Yeah, got a few guitars with dings in the neck, it happens, you just carry on you get used to 'em after a while.

At least you'll know where abouts on the neck you are without looking.

can't type without looking at the keyboard, can't play without looking at the fretboard... can't drive without looking at the road either, so i'm not feeling too bad about it. like we used to say, if it's dented, cool, it just looks more like a truck :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of "Unintentional Relicing"!!!!! If you want to keep your guitar in beautiful shape, I have some advice. Don't play it.

I dinged my Deluxe Power Tele while still in the shop, while they were ringing the sale up. If I didn't spend so much money there they would have told me not to come back after I used every curse word in the book and inventing several more. I knew it would eventually happen, but while still in the store?

I can remember once when I was playing my classical guitar, I had just lit a cigarette and it was dangling in my mouth. Then I noticed the lit end was touching the edge of the fretboard and it left a nice small burn mark, right on the 7th fret. Made a perfect place marker.

The only guitar I have that hasn't had this happen to it, is my newest one--which I bought about 2 1/2 months ago.

Yup.

'Have a dent on back of Jazzmaster neck at 4th fret and it ticks this writer off every time it's touched. Self-inflicted wound due to a moment of stupidity.

For some reason, I let this one girl use my telecaster after youth group. She didn't really know how to play and wanted to show me the simple proggression from "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, that I could have figured out in less than a minute with a desire to play it.
Anyway, she gripped the neck so hard her nails actually dug into the neck. There are now single finger nail sized dents on the neck above the fourth, sixth, and eighth fretts.
