Has anyone accidently dinged the back of their guitar neck?

I did it last night, I turned as I was playing and whacked the neck into my music stand leaving a small ding, pi$$ed me off.

is it that you can see it, or feel it that bothers you more? not a lot you can do about the visual thing, but you can smooth it out with some 400 or 600 paper and a swipe of bowling alley wax.
my telecaster had an "X" carved into the side of the neck by the previous owner to mark the 10th fret (don't ask me why). can't see or feel it right now using the afore mentioned method.

I'm going to leave it for now to see if it bothers me when I play, if so, I'll try to fix it.

It's happened to my 35 year old acoustic, many times by me or my friends, but not to any of my electrics.

I would expect it to happen sooner or later. Life happens.

i dropped a water pump on my 6-string acoustic awhile ago... (don't ask). couple of extra sound holes now, but still plays nice. thinking about some "powered by ford" graphics :)

I've always said this: I don't care how well you take care of your guitar. Unless you put it in a bullet proof, air tight case and hang it in your living room, only bowing to it as you pass it by, if you use it, stuff will happen to it.

of course. you want to be careful, and not "break" it, but a few dings are going to happen here and there.

unless you're playing a $10k guitar, don't worry about it.

how about headstock slices from the drummer's cymbals?!
Rubber rims might alleviate this bother

Accchh –– they're meant to get dinged. Like Townsend sez: "I play the damned things.....I don't worship them"

At least you'll know where abouts on the neck you are without looking.

HA! I can tell in a second that I'm right at the fourth fret on my taylor when my left hand feels that little gouge on the bottom :)

"How the hell do you play like that without looking?"

"Well, you know... I'm just THAT GOOD! Now go get me a beer."
