I'm thinking of getting a blues junior, but, does it have enough power for a small to medium gig? I was gonna get a Frontman 212, but I've heard conflicting stuff about it. Thanks guys :)

A thread with lots of info on Blues Junior's. The amp is loud but loud is a relative term. You can always mike a blues junior if it is not loud enough.

P.S. - We have a amplifier section where you may receive more help on the future about amp questions. Hope I helped.

I have a Blues Jr. that I bought a year ago. This amp can definately handle small to medium gigs. The loudness campared to the wattage of a tube amp is very different than a solid state amp. Go to music store, plug one in, and I dare you to turn up past 4 or 5. Plus, they sound incredible clean, and overdriven is no slouch either, though you may want a Tube Screamer or other overdrive pedal.

Mine is a NOS with a laqured tweed cabinet. Just beautiful.

Hi Play3r, I own a blues Junior since a few months for personal use only, no gigs. I wouldn't trade it for anything because it has the sound I was looking for without any mods. It is way too loud for indoor use but it comes with two volume knobs so I can dial the volume I want. At first I seriously thought of buying a Champion 600, but I really wanted the reverb, so the BJ won. Go to a music store, try a lot of amps. Good luck.

Claude. :D

I concur!

Though if you looking for loud, dead clean sounds (country or jazz)...remember it is 15 watts. That said...it is a great little tube amp.

The Blues Junior is a fantastic amp, it has plenty of punch. As another poster said, try turning it beyond 4 or 5. Since I got mine, my spider jam has been gathering dust.

You should check out forum member Billm's website for all you ever wanted to know about the BJ.

I've had my Blues Jr. NOS for a year now. GREAT little amp - plenty loud for at home - small clubs OK - larger venues you will need to mike !!

I own a blues Junior in addition to a couple of Peavey amps, one solid state Transformer 50 and a 30 watt tube amp. I cna't rem, ember the last time the Transformer was turned on, and have very seldom used the 30 watt Peavey. The blues Junior is not only great sounding, it is fairly handy transporting around. I guess maybe if I was a superstar guitar player I would get something bigger, but I prefer the Jr.

Aboard a cruise ship about 2 years ago the guitar player was playing an MIM Strat through a Frontman 212 with one of the well-known multieffects pedals. You might consider this a medium gig...a typical shipboard lounge. I was impressed with sound of his gear. It was first I'd learned of this amp. Since, it's been refaced and looks more Fender.

I've been told by amp service people that when these Chinese amps fail under warranty, they're not repaired, they are replaced. Consider that as well.

You should really audition them both with the guitar you plan to use. The observation that you might have to mic your amp through your vocal system is well made.
