The new Malmsteen strat is available soon and the constest is close to an end. I wonder what people would choose.... the relic or a pristine version? I'm not sure if the pristine version is available or not, I watched the video and saw people chipping and grinding new guitars into "poop" (my lame opinion). I mean how long is that supposed to last? Does it come with an experation date? I'm guessing one or two real seasonal changes before it just breaks apart. It is toasted looking. Anyways .... I respect peoples desire to want something like that and I may want it one day too, just not now. My choice is clear...... a pristine guitar. What a beautiful guitar, too.

IMO, why have a signature guitar when you could have your very own Am. Std? :D

Well, to be quite honest, I don't really understand signature guitars. Why have someone else's guitar when you could have a guitar that you could so easily call your own? Just IMO though... :roll:

I agree with you but some people might want signature guitars as collectibles or be like their idols.

Relic = BEAT UP!

I prefer to "scuff up" my own guitars.

I know that there are some in the forum that love the relic look. I think that I will eventually relic my own guitar, over time. I am in no hurry to speed up the process.

I see your point. Although a model as unique as the Fender Roscoe Beck signature Jazz V Bass didn't have a peer at that time. It was a ground breaking instrument that had the wonderful traditional sounds you would expect from Fender with modern amenities previously unavailable on a passive 5 string bass.

Review from Bass Player Magazine...5 out 5 for it's tone... :D

It V is now discontinued. Though the new American Standards have really raised the bar in terms of tradition and with modern features. At this point, I probably wouldn't have looked any farther. A brand new Precision V...how cool :!:

P.S. After 12+ years of countless gigs and numerous recordings, with all of it's scars and new frets, I would call it my own with that Fender tone. :D
