Oh, hey mate!

Nice of you to enquire!

I've not been around too much of late, due to being made redundant from my perky job where I could sit around all day on this forum, enjoying the company of all you guys!

Now I'm in the 4th week of training for my new job, which I really don't understand and feel a bit worried about going live next week, without the faintest idea about pensions!

So, the band thing is going quite well (despite my enormous lack of talent)
Cool small shoegaze/space rock type label Club AC30 have offered to pay for 10 days in the studio, so the pressure is on to get some new songs up and running! (Just goes to show that it's not what you know - it's who you know! I'm pretty lucky to walk into a band where songs are written and just need some extra noodling, and gigs are lined up etc)

So I think we're playing the Luminaire in london on July the 15th (Some old songs from a few years ago probably)

So keep 'em peeled for Air Formation.

I've been briefly logging on in the evenings to see what's going down, but they are fairly fleeting visits of late, as life is a bit busy with work, gigs (seen Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes, and Sigur Ros in the last 3 weeks!)
nagging wife, sick rabbit, new job stuff, faulty central heating system, and much repair needed to gutters!

Phew!
Hope all is well with the Forum crowd.

Cheers!

Cheers buddy! We get some odd descriptions on internet reviews!

"Nu Shu Feedbackers" was my favourite!

Well I suppose we are post Shoegaze, and I use lots of feedback to gloss over the bad guitar playing!

Ian Sheridan? Is he the singer in Jethro Tull?

Maybe they are out on tour.

My boiler has become self aware and likes to burn all of our gas while we're at work!

Anyone Corgi registered?

In the summer, when they weren't snowed under with emergency calls, we had British Gas fit us an entirely new eco-friendly system to replace our creaking old one. Each guy, or team of guys, who came through told us how wise we were to have British Gas do the work rather than some little independent or, worse still (in their view), a Polish plumber...

There followed a long, long saga in which each successive guy messed the whole thing up further. At one point I said to a foreman type, "I think that pump is fitted upside down, so the flow to the radiators is running the wrong way". I got a long, pointed lecture on how he'd been doing the job for 20 years and what did I know about it.

He and three others then spent two and half days pulling up floorboards, tearing off skirtingboards and generally ripping the place apart tracing pipes around our (admittedly complicated 1837) house. At the end of which he came to tell me that the previous oaf had fitted the pump upside down so the water was circulating the wrong way. Which he seemed to think came as news to me.

Several months and £5000 later one of the pressure joints has just sprung a leak dribbling water onto the electrics and blowing the lot out. "What cowboy did this job", asked the Area Manager when we dragged him out here on the coldest day of autumn so far.

Ian: if there's still time, take my advice. Go electric instead. Or a nice Norwegian woodburning stove. Or.. or...

Cheers - C

PS Seems I needed to get that off my chest! Now: shall we talk about guitars...?

being in the construction industry i can safely tell you that plumbers/heating engineers are generaly superiority complexed ignorami. You'd of been better of to get a eastern european in. Atleast they work hard and their standards are not bad either. Thats a rumour spread by british cowboys that feel threatened.

Still glad the bands going well Ian. Let me know when a demo becomes available.

Crikey! I would love to go electric! It's cheaper than gas too!

Sounds like you've had a real nightmare though!

My professional opinion would be geothermal with a heat pump. Drill an underground water loop for heat transfer and voila!

You would be surprised how easy and cost effective it is....

The one bit of the job that British Gas didn't get their hands on was the replacement/repair of a nineteenth century sash window, badly damaged by removal of the old boiler. We found a talented Polish joiner working on the building site next door: he did a beautiful job for us rebuilding the window using as much of the original as possible and perfectly matching the new timber: he did the job in a week flat and charged us very modestly for it.

And now half our Polish immigrants are going home as the recession hits. Come back, guys...!

Cheers - C
