John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" is also a favorite of mine.

Has anyone mentioned Slade's Christmas song? I've never heard it!

I have a Ray Charles Christmas album ... the funny thing about it is that on most of the songs he sounds drunk! (slurring his words, strong gin scent, etc)

You are probably right. He may have been liqoured up. I just don't know.

Some of the early rockers (like Fats Domino) thought that rock lyrics should not be understood. In a more current format, R.E.M. on "Don't Go Back to Rockville" have some lyrics that I never did figure out.

You lucky, lucky man. Where I live we can't walk into a store from now till New Year without hearing that number endlessly repeated.

As (Slade frontman) Noddy Holder said: "To you, an incredibly annoying noise every Christmas time. To me, a pension plan."

Cheers - C

Ha! Well, okay, I'll consider myself lucky.

Slade disappeared from US mainstream rock after the "In Flame" album. They were pretty much one hit wonders here, with "Come Feel the Noise" (the Slade spelling might not be too forum friendly), but some of us "metal heads" appreciated a wider range of their catalog.

PS I just Youtubed it ... not very heavy is it? I guess after the 1,000th listen it would lose some of its joy.
