Hi

I have a old homemade cab that was built close to fender bassman specs. It was originall set up with 2 12" speakers for guitar, but my uncle ended up buying a '74 twin reverb new back in the day, so my other uncle converted it to a bass cab and covered one of the 12" holes and cut the other out to fit a 15" JBL professional series in it. I think it is a PA speaker, but it sounded good, even for guitar, but the speaker wire was starting to short.

Recently I decided to restore it a bit, because it was getting ratty looking and the short problem. So I pulled off the grill cloth for starters, as it was bad, you could still see where the original 12's were, and it was discolored. I had to use needle nose plieres(SP?) to get some of the grill cloth tacks out. When I get the grill cloth completely removed, I forgot about the pliers and when I lifted the speaker board up the pliers slid down the speaker board and went right through the old JBL speaker cone

So this brings me to my delima. I have a bass, and no amp for it now, but I am a guitar player. So now I am trying to figure out what to do with it. I could make a guitar cab out of it (4x10) or (2x12)? This will require a new speaker board. Or should I return it to being a bass cab? If so I think I could stick with the original speaker board and get a new 15" speaker and replace the top of the board and add 2 x10"s. The cheaper route would be to recone the old JBL or just buy a new 15" speaker and new grill cloth.

I want torestore this thing, but I can't figure out my best route to go. As a guitar cab, I would use it more, but it functioned well with guitar as a bass cab too, so maybe I should make it a bass cab.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. If you made it this far, please take a few more minutes to provide you opinion and any supporting reasons for your opinion....in other words try to convince me of my best coarse with the cab. Feel free to ask questions if you need more info

Thanks in advance for any help!
