I am not much on Fur Farming but I will admitt I go Hunting but we eat what we get. I have gotten deer every year in the last 5 years some we have been givin to the butchers that process them and give them to the Maryland food bank and they end up at food kitchens and the hides go to a local tanner. We do have some furs but they are from hunting and we do process the rest of the animal. A lot of people do not no that you have to have hunt in order to keep the herd heathy. We have more Deer in Maryland now then there was 200 years ago. Ther are area were they are starving because the herds are to big. There are places in Baltimore City with Deer Herds thats why there are place now where they let you take several. And last year I got chosen to take a Bear so that they can thin them out some in MD. I got one the second day and had him processed for meat and I do have his hide and a Moose, Elk and Mt Goat. from hunting trips to Alberta with Smokey River Outfitters and My Goat came from a trip to Kodiak Island. I do understand how some feel about hunting but when you are like me and start hunting at the age of 12 you look at it different and nothing goes to waste because that would be wrong. Now days I will mostly hunt Deer. Goose. Duck I did not get picked for a Bear in the drawing this year.

Am I to understand that you give all the meat to that food bank and keep none for yourselves?

I always keep at least one. I already have one this year and might keep the Sika if I get. The other will go to the Meade natural Heritage for the food bank. We have areas in Md were you can get two Antlered deer but only after you show that you took two antlerless deer can you get the second Buck Stamp and you are allowed a total of ten antlerless for the season in the managed B areas.

Frank, i'm a absolute dog devotee. I've always owned a dog, despite that when they die i'm unconsolable for about a year and swear that i'm not getting another. I worked at a dog rescue voluntarily for a year, my dog is infact a rescue that i rescued. My dad bred bassets for years too. I can safely tell you that dogs do not love us. were a meal ticket for them, and they have a loyalty to us more out of pack minded instinct then affection. Sad to say its true, i love my dog. my dog thinks i'm a mug, so does my cat. :?
To hijack the topic a bit heres one for controversy,
Who wouldnt take medicine because it had been tested on animals?
