well its completely irrelevant with guitars but im really pissed of with the people that wear nowadays fur not synthetic but real.
last year i saw a video in which they showed how they killed the animal. i still have nightmares. well while it was alive they first beat it down really hard & then cut its legs. it was still alive when they took off its skin and for a couple of minutes (or more) it was staring like hell.
i never wore fur nor i will.
But after warnings fashion designers & celebs are still wearing it.
Will i be too bad if i say i hope for them the same?

I tend to agree with you. At least with leather, the cow is processed for food--the hide itself is merely a useful byproduct. Taking only the fur seems wasteful and cruel. There are some really nice-looking synthetic furs out there. People who like the look can get it that way.

Oh, and--I like Stratocasters! 8)

I agree with everything you say and I personally have been saying it for the last twenty years. No need for wearing actual fur these days, in my view.

I am not a big anti-fur activist or anything, but I am sympathetic.

Regardless, how could any one harm those helpless harp seals??? That really pisses me off. During the '80s I used to have a button w/ a harp seal on it on my speaker cabinet's grill.

First of all, I'm a vegetarian, I give a damn about animals, and I agree.
I'm not one of those annoying people who preaches about it all the time, but that story is terrible. It's torture what those people did.

Eating animals? I can live with that. It's a choice people have.
...But killing just to wear them? I think it's pretty sick to do that. Sheesh.

Sad.
I don't wear fur, but I do eat meat.

Don't hunt or fish either, but not sayin' others shouldn't. Just not for me.
Don't see how it rates as sport though. If you were getting game barehanded – that would be sport = fair play, equal terms.

There is a difference between people and animals. Until the 20th century that was pretty much axiomatic in human (at least Western) experience. So yes you would be "too bad" if you wanted people to be killed in the same way as the animals you mention.

However, I am sympathetic to the idea that there really isn't any good reason for modern men to kill animals only for fur. There are too many inexpensive, synthetic alternatives. If it was a matter of human survival then my conscience wouldn't bother me for killing an animal to keep warm. But to kill for vanity or fashion is not good stewardship of living creatures.

Food is a different issue. Killing to eat is honorable as long as you are not wasteful. I think maybe the fact that people buy their meat in plastic packages in the supermarket keeps some from respecting animal life as they should. People should always respect the fact (and be thankful) that another creature has given its life for yours. We are all related.

I am not much on Fur Farming but I will admitt I go Hunting but we eat what we get. I have gotten deer every year in the last 5 years some we have been givin to the butchers that process them and give them to the Maryland food bank and they end up at food kitchens and the hides go to a local tanner. We do have some furs but they are from hunting and we do process the rest of the animal. A lot of people do not no that you have to have hunt in order to keep the herd heathy. We have more Deer in Maryland now then there was 200 years ago. Ther are area were they are starving because the herds are to big. There are places in Baltimore City with Deer Herds thats why there are place now where they let you take several. And last year I got chosen to take a Bear so that they can thin them out some in MD. I got one the second day and had him processed for meat and I do have his hide and a Moose, Elk and Mt Goat. from hunting trips to Alberta with Smokey River Outfitters and My Goat came from a trip to Kodiak Island. I do understand how some feel about hunting but when you are like me and start hunting at the age of 12 you look at it different and nothing goes to waste because that would be wrong. Now days I will mostly hunt Deer. Goose. Duck I did not get picked for a Bear in the drawing this year.

It's my favorite furniture. :P There's a lot of other sins that are much more fun. Unless you're vain I suppose.
