I am thinking of buying this juicy little tidbit
it takes 2 AAA batteries which last for 15 hours
has gain, volume, tone
Headphone and MP3 jacks for listening and playing along

it produces sound only for the headphones

it costs $40-$50

I have one. It's okay, but I find it a bit buzzy. It does not have the amp-like tone that it promises. It's acceptable for tuning up or short warm-up sessions, but I would not find it satisfactory for long-term use.

For about half the money (~ $20), you could get the Danelectro HoneyTone amp, which you can use with its built-in speaker or with headphones. I love mine, and I use it all the time for travel.
