I knew I was pushing the envelope where he was concerned and when the window of opportunity opened, I jumped. The rest was pure luck

Fantastic video! Feeling a little "GAS" attack coming I might need an LP with a Bigsby on it. I think I better lie down and wait for it to go away.

This is not your father's Neil Young LP.....this is the NCC 1701 of LP's, the one I remember him playing years ago. Go back into that video and take a good look at the control panel on that top. It's wired for stereo though he had one of the jacks blocked. The pickups are not your conventional looking HB's either. When the time comes I would vote to put that guitar in the Smithsonian Institute, not the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Monday nights at the Iridium. Two shows..as long as providence will permit. If you can find your way across the big pond...do it!

I was going to ask but I didn't know if anybody would really know. Is that a different finish on his guitar?
It no surprise to read he has some fancy custom wiring on his guitar. He probably even made the pickups on it himself. He is "the Source" afterall.
Did he bring Les Paulverizer around? :D

From my experiences seeing him perform over these many past years, his guitars have never been less than custom/over the top. I even remember one which had a microphone installed in the upper bout. Both he and Mary played them.

This stage guitar you see in the video has a black lacquer finish. The setup was so fine that, from my vantage point one could hardly see any light below the frets. Run through the video carefully and note how the fingerboard is diagonally cut toward the upper frets. The neck appeared not to be the 'chunky' '59 but rather what Gibson refers to as the '60's fast neck.'

He plays with an oversize pick that appears to have velcro afixed to it so his fingers can grip it. As I observed in my initial post on this event, he played relatively uncomplicated but beautifully integrated lines, a tasteful though bittersweet shadow of his former self. The effects chain was basic: reverb, chorus, tremolo, etc.

We should all be so fortunate reaching that age and still having the will and ability to play.

It was fortuitous to have been given the heads up that this material had been aired and then having been able to retrieve it for friends and family, present company included....of course

Thanks. I've managed to download it to a file. When I have a moment of peace I'll attempt to burn it to a DVD.
