I'm fairly close to Diamond Bar but so far not in any danger. Lots of smoke in the air though.

I have to drive through Sylmar to get to work.

I'll take hot dogs to roast in case I get stuck.

Heard it started as an arson in a trailer court.
Just wow.

I have family in Calabasas and on visiting two years ago saw some of the damage in Malibu along Route 1. It would not surprise me much if most of these fires were indeed arson...either as the work of home-grown terrorists or worse...

I used to live in Chatsworth Ca. and fires were a risk (and still are). Hey MTHorn00 where is Diamond Bar... is that near Magic Mountain? The name sounds familiar, or is it near Granada Hills? I'm thinking that your near the 118 and the Santa Ana mountains. Well I live in FL now and it's hurricanes that I worry about.... not shakey ground or brush fires.

My heart goes out to anyone who was or will be caught up in the California fires. It seems to happen there every year.

Fires are frequent in Ca. I always wondered why people would get houses/build houses so close to fire hazards. They are really risking alot and they drive prices up on houses and insurance. If you lived there long enough to see some big fires... you would occasionally see houses, either individually or small communities, and just be amazed at how close to burning hell they live. Quite stupidly. Totally ignorant. And then they will cry on TV.

Not this year. Last year was a different matter - the Witch Creek fire got close. Had to leave town for a couple of days but that all. Thankfully had a place to return to when it was over.

Where I live in the middle of the San Fernando Valley, no real fire danger. However, I was traveling west on (more or less) I-5 Sunday and the Interstate was closed heading east after about what would be the mid-valley. We could smell and see a lot of smoke headed west, but no fires close to the road.

Several of my employees who live out toward Sylmar have been affected (twice actually) by the fires but no one injured or lost their homes thankfully.

I'm way up north from the fire (San Francisco Bay Area), so no problem for me.
