Any of you getting a thanksgiving strat? :) :D

I am not Christian, but is anyone gonna buy themselves or their child a guitar or amp? Gear?

'Tis the special time of year when strats are bought.
However, telecasters are cool, too.

I might be getting something like a wah...

SOrry if it is a little too early to be saying things about the holidays, but look at the department store commericials! Get a holiday sale... but it's not even winter!!

I dont think the holidays are the best time to be buying gear. Best wait till next year when the stores are desparate to sell.

You are right it's a great time of the year but it's not about material things and we shouldn't get caught up on what we didn't get.

Enjoy the holidays by being with your family and friends.

Best wishes to all,

Not getting too caught up in material things, but I am buying my sons some new gear for Christmas.

I bought a drum kit for my 15 year old and a new bass (Fender of course) for the 13 year old.

It's always the right time of year to get new gear 8)

This is a great time of year to do some shopping - if you wait until "BLACK FRIDAY" - most of the online places (guitar center, sam ash) have a huge discount for a few hours if you order online - I saved a couple hundred bucks on a Les Paul last year by ordering it during this time frame - I may do that this year and get another '08 Strat - heck, its normally 20% off - so, if you are in the market for an American Standard, that knocks it down to $800 - not a bad deal really

Finally, some people who know the real meaning of this season!

People are getting too caught up in shopping, that money has become more important than family.

I wasn't implying that we should buy just to spend, but to give our loved ones something special and remember the giver for it.

At Hanukah, i am gonna go to my grandparents for a feast, and then i am gonna get stuff cause i am the youngest

Anyway, let us be thankful for our family and friends

and on a lesser scale, our gear

It's only Nov. 16...

I brought home a pair of bongos (Gon Bops) yesterday. I'm hoping my daughter who's taking piano lessons can work on her rhythm with them.

I do have my eye on a Crate V33 (MIC all tube 33 watt) head ... but I don't know if it's going to be my X-mas present to myself or not.

I'm looking at upgrading the home studio:

Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs Studiophones,
ACID Pro 7 upgrade,
Sibelius G7 software to create lead sheets for publishing,
and maybe Joe Vitale Latin Percussion loops.

All in all, not a whole lotta cash.

At Hanukah, i am gonna go to my grandparents for a feast, and then i am gonna get stuff cause i am the youngest

In that case, perhaps you wield enough juice to put together a list containing eight pieces of gear you absolutely cannot do without

....like f'rinstance...this young grandson of my friends for whom I purchased a copy of "The Black Strat"....he's been between a rock and a hard place over the complete Pink Floyd collection, and the complete Led Zeppelin.

At lunch yesterday I was under the impression that LZ is gonna get the nod.

Good luck to YOU....but.....remember....Chanukah celebrates freedom over tyranny...and that comes first.

Somehow, I think this is the first Holiday season where the retailers are REALLY gonna get hit in the shorts...the Holiday commercials on TV, and Holiday music/decorations in the stores have been up since Halloween. That ain't gonna get me to part with any of my hard-earned green any faster or more often. I'm gonna do my part in the New World Economy--pay off credit, save like tomorrow's worse than today (because, it might just be), and spend only when I need to, not because I want to.

In other words, if I ain't using the toys I already have, I'm not getting new ones until I get rid of the old ones. Close relatives are getting a Wal-Mart gift card for a two digit expenditure. Distant relatives and friends will get a greeting card, maybe. After all, it's the thought that counts.
