Hi, I'm planning on restoring my Dad's Original Fender Mustang for him as a suprise for Christmas. It was repainted before he bought it when he was a teenager. I'm pretty sure the original color was eaither Sonic Blue or Daphne Blue because the new paint job has chipped away. But anyways It's pretty beat up and the volume and tone knobs seem to be intact but i'm not sure and the switches that let you choose between pickups definately don't work. So I need some advice on how to go about remodling it to it's former glory. Does anyone know where I can find out how this model was supoosed to be originally? and does anyone know how i can find the problems with the wiring? I want this to be my dads best christmas ever! So any advice would be amazing! Thank You!

I would take it to a good guitar repair shop. I'm sure they could get it back into working order for $50-100 w/ a setup included.

I replied on the other post of same and didn't consider the guit shop. A setup would be great, but only after the guitar is back together for good. I thought it sounds like this guitar probably needs a refin.

Would I be right on that? If restoring, have all the refinishing work done first? It applies to me in that I got a MMII I want to do, but the setup would come after the paint and final assembly.
