: Great citation but far, far, far, from unsung. Most awesome.

Guitar Player's recently done extensive coverage on both him and the trio.

What about a guy whose in a very successful band but there doesn't seem to be much hype about him.....JOHN FRUSCIANTE. John from the Chili Peppers, dude is an incredible musician! I don't think he gets all the credit he deserves. Partly I think he likes to lay low, doesn't like a lot of attention, seeing thats why he quit the band after Blood Sugar Sex Magik. But his guitar work and theory is outstanding! Look him up on youtube. Thanks for reading! [/b]

I don't know if he counts but I would say Tommy Emmanuel. Probably the best guitar player on the planet. I also really like the lead guitar player in my band This Side Up. Check out some of our videos and recordings.

[quote="redhotzepper"]....JOHN FRUSCIANTE.

Good choice but he seems to have a lot of coverage as I see it. Recent Guitar Player cover and full article. :wink:

It's cool to see several of you also mention my pick - Steve Cropper. So I will share this tidbit. I was looking to find more of his music so I googled his discography. While it may not be a surprise to many of you, it was news to me that he also was a major composer to many of the tunes he played on with artists @ Stax Records. Also that he played on several of Rod Stewart's recordings in the 70's and with Alabama in 1989. He can fit in anywhere. He is all over the place and rarely talked about! :shock:

To whit...it was Booker T and The M.G.'s who were the house band for Stax Volt...Booker T, the only black member of this band. This great reservoir of soul music, that signature guitar lick of Steve's in "Soul Man" composed and played by mostly white musicians 8)

I can name a handful

1. The Edge, The Edge, The Edge !!!! He NEVER gets named ANYWHERE. The guy IS U2.

2. Kim Thayil (formerly of Soundgarden)

3. Thayils "brother seperated at birth" Jim Martin (formerly of Faith No More)

4. Vito Bratta (formerly of White Lion). He could play pretty much anything the "shredders" could but got no credit as one

5. Crispian Mills of Kula Shaker. The guy simply rocked on K and Peasants, Pigs....

Scotty Anderson tears up the Fender Telecaster.

You got to hear this guy. His musicianship is hard to put in words.

Great recordings from top to bottom.

"Holy Senior Moment, Batman :!: :!: :!: :shock: Thanks for the head's up on that one.

That's a great cover :!: It serves to remind us that at a potentially divisive time in our social history, in some quarters music continued to remain blind to differences, long before Stevie Wonder thought of "Ebony and Ivory" :wink:
