Let me add my prayers and good wishes, Ceri. I am a firm believer in the power of positive "mojo", as is has previously been labeled in the forum. You have a lot of folks pulling for you, mate!

When might we get some information?

I don't suppose anyone knows!

We'll just have to wait for his return.

Which is now!

People, what can I say? Just got home, logged on and found this thread waiting. More touched than I can say. What a bunch of charmers you all are: thank you!

Finding myself in hospital I had the idea that it showed humorous bravado to carry on posting from my bed in the neurology department. However, at that point I was in a little four bed observation ward for a couple of nights - and there were two other very unfortunate gentlemen who's conditions both caused rather a huge amount of disturbance through the nights. So as soon as seemed reasonable I was moved to a room on my own - which didn't however have internet access.

Which explains my abrupt disappearance for the next two days - nothing more sinister.

As you might imagine, ZZDoc sees the whole thing (I needn't have gone to hospital at all, just consulted our Forum Doctor from several thousand miles away!)

The story in short: abrupt and disturbing symptoms late Friday night which possibly suggested a stroke. Exciting blue-light ride to hospital, a few hours in the ED, tests, needles, wires, yadda yadda. Soon as the neurology boys were brought in they felt a stroke was not so likely and a battery of brain scans showed no sign of one.

However, they did reveal something called an arachnoid cyst (spiders on the brain to you and me) in an area of the brain that might explain the symptoms. As ZZDoc says, this may be congenital (there since birth) and so very probably not serious. Or it may be a developing problem.

Given the slight risks associated with surgery and the absence of continuing symptoms so far it has been decided to play a waiting and watching game for the present - but have the saws and hand drills ready to go in and haul that critter out if needs be.

So here I am, home!

Negative and plus points: the radiologist would not allow my wife to come in and photograph me having an MRI scan in my Forum T-shirt. Rats!

On the plus side, I have now seen the inside of my own head in glorious technicolor and can confirm that there is indeed evidence of a brain in there, despite all rumors to the contrary. So there!

Lastly, Mr Shreddin's ideas regarding nurses are proved right in every respect (they wear figure hugging uniforms in various shades of blue in this hospital) - but we won't talk about that further while my wife is in the building.

Guys, thank you all once again for your interest and concern. Very, very nice of you all. Most pleased and grateful.

Now, normal service is resumed!

Cheers - C

F, your part in this thread has been noted - and very much appreciated. Thank you warmly.

Mind you: didn't need all this drama to get babied by my wife. Get that anyway!

Cheers - C

Reassuring to learn that your docs feel it not necessary to manage your situation aggressively at this time. I've referred the forum to a site where they can find a good summary of what ails you.

As far as capturing your image under the MRI scanner, either the camera, or the camera and your wife, would have unexpectely joined you under that magnet.

As far as those scrubs are concerned....Ditto. And beyond that, the rest of the stories in that regard will have to await the occasion of a pint or two at your local pub.

I hope the long time sun passes between today and any possible reckoning with the base of your skull.

Welcome home

Thanks, Doc. Yes, the radiologist was very stern on that point. Still, very interesting pictures that machine provided. Almost worth it just for that.

Far as the surgery is concerned, one glance at some of the instruments involved makes me in no hurry to go that route if not required. I'm not very squeamish, but...

Anywhere near your own discipline?

Thanks for your support.

Cheers - C
