So I just bought a Lovepedal Fuzz on ebay. Now I rarely ever by things online, but this particular pedal would've been hard to find in Scandinavia, so I decided to go for it. The auction ends and I'm the lucky owner of a 200lbs of Tone! Then comes the paying part of the purchase, and all hell breaks loose. Paypal refuses to cooperate with anything I ask them to.
I had the same problem about half a year ago when buying a dobro. Back then, it took three weeks of hair tugging and nail biting to pay for my purchase.

This time around, I have no patience left whatsoever, so I just mailed the store and kindly asked if I could pay them in a different manner.

Anyway, I just needed to voice my frustrations, thanks for listening
:?

NOTE: While you may share your experiences and upsides/downsides with online purchases in this thread, I don't want any Paypal-thrashing or hate posts, keep the forum friendly

I'm half a world away from you but I can still feel your frustration, sometimes I don't realize how lucky americans are, if you can't find it here you can find it over there.

I ran into an issue with Musicians Friend trying to use PayPal. MF claims it was an issue with PayPal...whatever, I got what I wanted from another place instead that night...using PayPal. Computers are great when they work, but make things more stressful than doing it the old way, when they don't.

I've always used my credit card, and pay it off when the bill comes in. Never had any problems that way.

Don't feel bad, I had a guy from Holland bid/win my auction on a James Burton Tele I'm selling even though I stated USA shipping only. He found out why I said that in the auction when I told him that UPS quoted me $399.97 to ship the guitar. Since he killed my auction and both of the other bidders bought other guitars, I told him I'd pay $100 of it. He agreed and is now telling me that he can't get the PayPal to work. I've been back and forth with this guy all day and now he's asking me to call my bank and have them let him put money from his credit card into my account. REALLY?? Jeez, I feel your pain man!

Interesting. Take care in case this is a scam - don't give out information that will allow him to take money out of your account. You're bank can advise you on it if you want to go ahead: alternatively, have the guy send you the money in the form of an international money order, obtainable from post offices and perhaps banks.

However, it may be a genuine problem. I have purchased from all over the world, including the USA on many occasions (I'm in the UK). But buying a moderate priced watch from an American seller on Ebay I suddenly encountered all kinds of problems with Paypal: "international payment not accepted" type messages appearing. Despite the fact that the seller's page was covered in stuff about how they sell internationally. Eventually I tried to talk to the seller about it and offer alternative form of payment, but they seemed to lose interest, so I did too.

Bizarre glitchy thing: never had other problems using Paypal across the Atlantic - as Brad could testify!

Good luck - C

He actually got it figured out last night. I had to walk him through it and have him get PayPal on the phone after I hung up with them. The money went in this morning but I'm going to wait until it clears into my back account before I ship.
