Well, I cast my vote yesterday for Barack Obama and everybody is well aware today that history was made yesterday with the election of the 1st Black man to be elected to the office of president of the United States of America. This should be noted in the words of one Dr. Martin Luther King, " I have a dream," yes Dr.King you did, and yesterday, was the beginning of seeing that dream becoming fufilled. It's only too bad that out of the millions who voted for President elect Obama, that there are millions who still hold hate and racism in their hearts. Let's hope that in due time, that these people will hopefully come to their senses and see the error of their ways.

I see nothing historic about this election. What I seen was one Party put forth a candidate who was young and could say what he was told in a elequint manner and another party send a caniddate who was 72 and had very little appeal to younger voters and stammered his way through. The economy going down the tank was the best campaign partner that Obama could have had. I also think if the other party would have sent a candidate who was younger and well spoken and from one of the rust belt states it would have been a different outcome. I also fear having one party control accross the board because I live in a state which has been that way for most of the last 50 years and I have seen what it does .

Its strange that when I originated the 1st post in this thread as a way to try and bring people together and do something positive regardless of who anyone was backing, that it has tuned into such a negative situation. It was on purpose that I didn't state a preference or political party affilliation when I began this thread. My hope was that which ever candidate was elected that we could cross the boundry and become first and foremost proud Americans. As I said in the original post I have my own opinions and biases, and I was trying to keep them out of the thread to avoid causing conflict. I hope that as others read this thread they can remain within that same spirit as the add comments to this thread.

This is one of those threads that is best to just let it die. People are not going to ever agree when it come to Politics. Both parties will say they will work in a bipatisan manner and we all no thats not true. We all no that most peolple in Washington are not there but to help themself not you or I all we can hope is that in helping themselfs we get some trickledown effect or can limit the damage. Then 36 months from now it will start all over again and people will be passinate over the candate they support its just the nature of politics. Meanwhile we will watch Bussiness as usual this one blame that one.

I'm offended. Seriously. I am NOT a racist. I did not vote for Obama. Not because I'm racist. In fact, I very highly resent any implication of racism. I'd vote for somebody who was purple if he (or she) was right for the job.

I'm in the military. The President is the Commander-in-chief of all branches of the US Military. Military order dictates that the qualifications for the commanding officer of any military unit are quite strict. It's not something that's given to you based on your title. It's not given out because of the color of your skin, religious belief, or anything else. The Commanding Officer must know the most intimate details of his command before he's entitled to assume command.

President Elect Obama has NO military command experience whatsoever. He is NOT qualified for the job of Commander-in-chief of the US Military. End of story.

That's all I have to say about that.

Mods, please feel free to delete my post, or this entire thread.

This thread is going nowhere fast -- political discussion can be really, really tough to pull off in a forum like this and tension's already running high in this thread. How 'bout we talk about music and guitars instead? :-)
