For a second there I thought we had a ton of new users show up all of a sudden... And then I realized this was a dead thread. ;)

Welcome to the forums darylstuermer, just try to be aware of the date of the threads you reply to. We've had several hundred favorite guitar players threads since this one. :)

The people I owe most to are John Lennon and George Harrison as it was them that set my destiny to become a musician and because of them-especially John my life has turned out like it has.The other MAJOR influence was Jimi Hendrix, from the first note that I heard from him his music just ripped through my soul.It was Jimi who inspired me to really pick up the guitar with a totally new approach and spend up to 10 hrs a day just honing my craft.I spent years doing Hendrix covers and have turned on a lot of budding guitarists to the passion and virtuosity of his music.Chris Britton of The Troggs and Pete Townshend were also big influences in my strumming style that is very heavy handed and aggressive.

Welcome to the Forum darylstuermer! Kudo's for looking through some of the old threads, gives you insight as to what goes on here.

I've chosen best guitarists in these threads but have a notion each time I answer it changes slightly. This time for my top 3:

Roy Clark
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Winter
