I'm comfortable now with quickly reading music note by note, but it seems like I'm reading a book letter by letter, not word by word or sentence by sentence.

Is it a goal of music reading to be able to read chunks of notes at a time? What is the best way to develop this kind of broader recognition of notes?

Thanks for any insight you can give.

Practice and lots of it is what worked for me. Your mileage may vary :?:

It's not so much the ready of the notes, but also the time signatures, phrasing and the whole theory concept that ties in with reading.

Good luck! I've been playing for 40 years and still get stuck on some pieces.
