One of the things about Duane is that we may never fully know all of the songs/albums that he played on. He appeared on an awful lot of music that he never was credited for.

There will never be another Skydog.

Duane Allman is a defining artist but Derick Trucks can not be ignored. He is as talented as any slide player I have ever heard.

There is no doubt that derek Trucks is a great slide player, but we will never klnow how good Duane could've/would've been. May he rest in peace.

I'm pretty fond of the way that Sonny Landreth plays.

I've said it here before: if I could press the magic button and have all the talent and musicality of just one great guitarist suddenly pouring out my fingertips it would be Duane Allman without a doubt.

Never to be forgotten.

Cheers - C

Here goes.....

Right now, without question, SONNY LANDRETH is the slide guitarist - he stands head and shoulders above everyone else.

Duane Allman ( RIP) in my opinion, is the finest OVERALL guitarist in rock music. He could play awesome authentic electric blues & rock, play beautiful country - blues acoustic and nothing has to be mentioned here about his skill as a slide guitarist.

RORY GALLAGHER (RIP) in my opinion of all the GREAT guitarists was unique . Besides being an awesome electric, acoustic & slide guitarist, he was a singer, writer, producer and a very highly skilled harmonica player, mandolinist, sitar player and saxophonist. NO ONE I know of amongst the highly touted players could do all that . And thats from his early 20's on to the end of his career and life.

Duane Allman will be forever remembered in the UK as well as the US and indeed probably, all around the world. A true genius, it was a dark day when he was lost to us all.
