I am a newbie and I thought of a ice breaker question...

so back when you first learned quitar and how to play it, what was the first thing you learned to play? what was easy and lead you to where you are today...?

Welcome!
Tough questions, After learning some chords, I think the first song was the rythm to smoke on the water. It led me to realize that Its not impossible to play guitar. It taught me I could figure out what they were playing by listening and trail and error. I hope I answered your question(s)

First Riff=Highway to Hell-AC/DC
First Song=Pride and Joy-SRV & Double Trouble
First Solo=Eruption=Eddie Van Halen

There you have it. When I was an 8 year old, I learned very quickly. By the time I was 10, I could play Eruption (crappy of course, unlike now... ). Anyways, good luck learning guitar! :D 8)

The first riff I learned was from my father, he taught me the "intro" to Barracuda by Heart. The first song I learned I think was...Breakin' the Law by Judas Priest. My first solo I think was the solo to Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, despite the fact that I couldn't play the rest of the song...lol.

Thats a nice one.

Shows how young I am but I believe the first song I can say I learned was the rhythm to "Thirty-Three" by The Smashing Pumpkins back on my acoustic guitar.

I still suck but I'm going around trying to pick up bits and pieces of various songs.

Years ago I had a friend that would let me mess with a bass while he was on guitar so maybe pre-dating "33" I used to play some bass to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and eventually I learned myself how to play the theme to King of the Hill on bass.

I think the first song I learned the rhythm on was "Dirty Water" by the Standells. The first song I learned a lead part on was Wipe Out by the Ventures.

The first "rock" song I ever played was Communication Breakdown by Zep.

The first thing I learned to play, other than open chords, was the 12 bar blues. The first song I learned was YES Owner of a Lonely Heart, mainly just cause of the cool riff in the song, which I don't even remember how to play now because that was over 20 years ago...

Ouch hurts to try to think that long ago.
I think among the first were lead lines to
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Ode to Joy, :D

First open cord song was Proud Mary :)

I'm a bass player.

The first song I learned on electric was "Go to the Mirror Boy" off of Tommy by The Who.
Second song was "Hello Goodbye" form Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles.
Entwistle and McCartney were my heros!

Learning electric bass was fairly easy 'cuz I had been playing string bass in grade school orchestra for three years prior. I'd already learned how to read and where the notes are.
I used to drool over Sears and MontgomeryWard catalogs looking at bass guitars and amps for years. Finally earned enough money to buy a used Univox copy Beatle bass. My parents chipped in for a combo BassMate 15" in jr high and I've been rockin' ever since.

Have fun!! :)

As said to a previous query on the same topic, "Walk Don't Run" by the Ventures.

The lead part will teach you precision and interval; it's a lot of quarter-notes.

The Rhythm part will teach you moving a basic barre chord form.

The bass part willl have you all over the neck and can be played on a guitar's bottom 4 strings. Do it with your fingers and you learn even more.

Best of fortune. Enjoy.
