do you think fender guitars should start to use 22 or 24 frets, high gain pickups, and maybe special fretboard inlays, or do you think the classical style should stay the same, I mean Jim root is making a turn over on the original tele.

I don't like 24 fret necks. I like having a pickup under where the 24th fret would be (think old Teles), it's good for harmonics, especially for that neck pickup (duh).

Rickenbacker used to use 'slanted' (is that was what was meant as 'angled'?) frets briefly as a special order, back in the early '70's, but it wasn't popular and went away pretty quick.

yes I would like to see 24 frets on some fender git's I've got a post in here somewhere about a custom tele that I'd like to have built, I like to play the high notes especially if I'm ripping a lead in the A key.

24 frets is too many, seeing as I usually don't play up much further than the 19th fret 99% of the time...

24 is fine if y' got 'em on an acoustic.

Agree with an earlier post, the 24th fret tho is where the neck pup should be for the 2nd octave harmonic.

O own two guitars with with 24 fret necks: A Jackson USA SLATQH and a 1993 PRS Custom. They are both really great but for some reason my Tele with 22 frets just seems to "feel" better. I guess it may make more of a difference if I were really a great musician, but to call me mediocre would be a stretch. but, I do have fun!

How about adding a piezo bridge, thinline body and flat-wounds to that?

Now that would be a Jazz Bass!

Cheers - C

Yeah, it would be cool if they added EMG 81/80 Active pickups, Floyd Rose bridge, ebony fingerboard, black hardware, thin U neck... They could call it the "Metal Players" Strat. Metal players would dig it! :P 8) But, I must dream on and stick with my Ibanez RG for that type of stuff...
