Both are exceptional guitarist and are good in their own light; but since I have to choose, I choose Eddie. Eddie gave us more of the Modern sounds you hear people play today. But don't get me wrong, if Angus asked me to become a student of his, I would.

Angus or rather Malcolm, he writes all the stuff. Van halen was just too boring for me. Who needs a 2 minute guitar solo and 2 handed tapping sounds like it was developed by bontempi or bandai.

For me, Angus Young, his style of play is old school and the sounds he generates explore sweeter sonic parameters.

Both very talented guitarists. I have to give Van Halen the edge just because he does more different things in his playing.

Not better..really. Different strokes. My deference is to EVH as a musician, but I give it all to AY in his choice of clothing

Angus, definately Angus. Not as technically proficient, but lots more feeling. More visceral and energetic.

Listening to EVH's "Eruption" convinces me that his technical skills were something on the brink of magic.

I can't say that about Angus, but his beef is quite good. :? :P

I went with Angus just because I've always prefered AC/DC to Van Halen. I also like his sound a little better than EVH. Though I must say EVH is a very respectable musician.

EVH -- Much more proficient technically, much more innovative. Eddie makes me say "wow", Angus just doesn't.

Completely different cats. I've learned a ton of stuff from both, but have had more "wow" moments listening to and trying to learn VH stuff, and applying that to my own playing.

Eruption, his solo in Beat It, When Push Comes to Shove, and tons of other brilliant songs. That was back in the day. Now, I don't think he plays much that interests me.

Angus is great, but it's solid, simple stuff. Not much "holy crap, how the hell did he do that?", but I don't always need that anyways. Angus once said that he's not much of a lead player, and that he made a living out of playing the same solo to every song. Modesty maybe, but that's where his head is about it.
