I've worked with hundreds of musicians in my lifetime and when I read your initial post, I didn't feel any ego thing there at all, your vocalist to me sounds like ' your average vocalist ' and as a front man, he needs to feel comfortable and he would appear to be 'not so'
The overview you've provided is at best 'sketchy' and I don't know how anyone can make snap decisions like 'ditch this guy'
You have lost two members already, your bass player and yourself are in conflict and it sounds like your singer is angling for a way out.
Good front men [ if he is ] are difficult to replace.
I may be wrong, but it sounds like you are the leader of this band by the way you refer to the said and of course we only have your version of the developments of events. Your singer refuses to do ' this ' and ' that ' but what is he actually saying.
I would like to help you but more background information is required.
It's a bit like saying " My guitars broke, how can I fix it ? " We need more to go on.
In an earlier post I said ' compromise ' as a knee jerk reaction to what you outlined. Maybe this is still the way, Man management requires give and take, dealing with situations as they arise, difficult decisions have to be faced before you draw a line under everything. A calm measured approach to what is thrown at you.
Stand back for a moment and ask yourself " Am I doing things right here "
There is always a way around awkward situations, we just have to find that way.
I truly hope you solve this positively, talk to each other and let everyone say his piece and clear the air.
All the best,
Rhumba

Rhumba's is a sensible post and is made from experience.

Good advice.

Cheers - C

I see what you're saying, Rhumba. Speaking of which, me and the bassist had a talk. We've decided not to actually "fire" this friend of ours as much as we are going to find a "backup" singer who will technically be our new frontman (or frontwoman, I'd rather have a female singer...adds a twist!).
