If you had a choice between a G&L Classic Bluesboy, Gibson Les Paul Standard or a Fender VG Strat, which one would you choose if you could only pick one? :?

Neither, I have the perfect guitars for me. (and I'm insanely happy I got as luck as to own them!) :D

You know, call it that...feeling that you wouldn't trade in your current guitar for anything else, y'know?

None of the above for me. I'm getting a John Suhr Modern 24 . I've already talked to Gary from the Guitar Asylum about a custom one built to my specs and the cost will be around $3,200.00 to $3,600.00 with a build time of only 3 to 4 months!!! When I got my quote for a custom shop Strat which was to be built to the same specs, the price came in around $5,200.00...OUCH!!! And I won't even tell ya what the build time was on that one...

If it could ONLY be one of the 3 choices, I guess it would be the G & L ASAT Classic Blues Boy, though I have never played one, thats just the one I would prefer to play if I HAD to make a decision between those 3 guitars

For me if i could only grab one guitar in my music store i would have a huge dilemma between a John Mayer strat and a Gibson Es335.

Within the parameters listed I would go with the Les Paul.

Of the 3 choices I voted for the Les Paul. The main reason is because it is the only one of the 3 that I am familiar with.

The most famous guitar bodies are Les Paul and the Strat, so you can't go wrong! :D 8)

I chose the VG Strat.

I own one and I'm familiar with her and how she works.

I've never handled either of the other 2 - but I think that the VG would give me more choices in music styles that I could approach as long as I could recharge the batteries  And if the batteries died, she can still be played as a Strat. And if we didn't have any power, at least my VG Strat sounds very nice unplugged - I play her that way a lot - late at night. :P

There's flexibility in that VG which speaks to a host of different needs.

[quote="Shreddin"]None of the above for me. I'm getting a John Suhr Modern 24 .

I remember when John was a team with Rudy Pensa here in NYC. They built the guitar that Knopfler plays. They both seem to have retained the rights to use the same headstock, though each puts their individual names on it now.

Price points have a great deal to do with the costs of labor and materials, as nikininja once observed with respect to a build by Warmoth. If you will be satisfied with your choice, that's all that matters.

I'm sure we all look forward to seeing the final result.

Doc
