I am developing a hankering to digitize my albums. Does anyone out there have any experience with doing so? Can you recommend a good USB turntable??

There are several good ones at MF or GC Etc.. Numark? I think is a brand name, they all come with some sort of software as well. Do you have a working turn table? and a computer interface? if you do you more than likely have what you need already. I have an Apogee Duet and logic software...(home recording studio)
So all I did was to buy a couple of RCA to 1/4 inch adapters, plug in the turn table and your ready to record.

Good luck and let us know how you made out

A buddy of mine has been converting old records onto his computer, I'll ask him which USB turntable he is using.

I got one of the Ion USB http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_TTUSB%20Turntable%20B%20Stock_-1_10052_10002_-49957755 and it works pretty well.

I sold my 2500+ vinyl a few years ago, but kept my blues and Hendrix albums. Almost all my blues albums were OOP, and I wanted to convert those to CD.

The Ion comes bundled with Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , I use Audacity but I also have a the Microsoft Digital + software. This was software was designed for for converting audio to digital.

One great feature is that it senses the dead space in between songs and automatically creates a track, you have to name that track. With Audacity, you have to look at the wavefrom, cut and paste the tracks as new waveforms, and 'save' as a track.

It sounds time consuming using Audacity, but it really isn't once you do it a few times.
