Old flat top is not cutaway.

New-ish classical is.

Jazzboxes must be.

I can't go with the cutaway just because of the looks. To me, (being a traditionalist), cutaway says "electric."

I prefer a cutaway. Just feels right to me.

How about both?
Or how about neither--there are other types of acoustic guitar bodies.

Definetly a cut-away, how else can you reach those higher frets?

I prefer non cutaways. I voted for dreadnoughts but OOO's would be nice also.

I say CutAway - Because of playability. For Rhythm guitar or Fingerstyle playing, the Dreadnaught is fine. However, a Singlecut makes more sense to me as a student. You can hit many more of the high notes (on strings 17-20) in a singlecut than you can on the D/N.
That said, there's a difference between a purely acoustic guitar and an acoustic/electric. If you play the guitar unplugged, the full-body guitar really delivers much more volume and contrast.
This is A confusing poll question though... My last guitar was a D/N cutaway.

Hello EddieVanHelen,

At this point I have no acoustic guitar,
when I get one I'll choose no cutaway.
I'll choose a smaller body like CUJarrett
suggested OOO or OO.
Maybe even a 12 fretter.

Cheers.

Dreadnaoght for me as well. It's what I have and have been very satisfied. I tried quite a few of the cutaways and just could get "comfortable" with them.

Yeah, not worded right. A dreadnought is not necessarily no-cutaway, it's just the body shape. MANY dreads have cutaways. The cutaway has nothing to do whether its on a dread, a jumbo, a parlor, a 000, a concert, an auditorium, a grand symphony, or whatever shape of guitar you have.

My own acoustic guitar is black with a cutaway. I think a traditional big yellow cowboy guitar is hideous.

Full body non-cutaway for me. There's an old saying: 'There's no money past the ninth fret'. For me, anything past the twelth fret is redundant and sounds tinny, and the sound decays too fast. With a cutaway, you're sacrificing the amount of guitar you have for the convenience of going after high notes. And there's something to be said about the difference between a acoustic with the neck joined at the 12th fret VS an acoustic with the neck joined at the 14th fret.
