Do you guys like acoustic guitars with cut-aways or with no cut-away? I voted cut-away... :)

cuttaway is handy.. but since my favorite acoustic guitar is not, I went for dreadnaught.

I like a cutaway, for looks and functionality.

Cutaway - if it is a pretty one. Can't stand an ugly cutaway.

On which point, anyone seen that Parker acoustic? Man, I thought I was going to be ill when I set eyes on that one.

...And yet, and yet... There's just something about it that intrigues me. Not about to part with money for one, though!

Cheers - C

I voted dreadnaught 'cause the Samic is a dread. But I've played a couple of cutaways lately that have been realy nice. I'm looking for "that" acoustic box these days. I just got to quit falling in love with $3,500 Gibys though.
Peace. J.J.B.

All three of mine are dreads (early 90s Fender I use for slide, a Takamine for blues picking - deep sound and a relatively new Epi Masterbilt with a pretty bright sound) and given what I do, no need for a cutaway.

However, if I was considering an acoustic-electric (mine are all conventional) and acoustic leads, I'd definitely consider a cutaway.

Even on acoustic there are lots of things I play way up on the neck, so a cut-a-way is really handy.

I don't care for the look of the cutaways I've seen, and don't really need one anyway since my skills are still, shall we say, very basic. Still workin' on the other end of the neck.

Cutaways to me just don,t look right for acoustic, maybe I,m just old fashioned. I understand that some people like playing way up there but homey don,t go there.

For most dreadnaughts, cutaways sometimes look a bit funny. Though I prefer that for ease of playing higher on the neck for higher voicings and some leads.

Some non-traditional bodies, (breedlove, etc) have cutaways and are a work of art.

It depends.

I have three acoustics at the moment.

- Ramirez nylon string (no cutaway)
- Epiphone acoustic (GC cheapie for camping, etc - no cutaway)
- Taylor L7 (cutaway)

I had to vote "dreadnought," as both of my Epiphones (PR100 and PR350-12E) have that type of body. My only other acoustic, a Johnson JG-622-E acoustic/electric bass, has a jumbo body.
