If those are my only choices, I'll take Bad Company. But let's take a moment and remember Mel Galley of Whitesnake (and Trapeze) RIP old buddy...

if your into Iron Maiden then your gotta log on to Bruce Dickinson's rock show
http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/bruce_dickinson/

That'll get you there.
As for the 80's
the Clash was still rolling out the numbers

From the 80s, I remember listening to a lot of stuff like...

Van Halen - 1984
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
AC/DC - Back In Black
Queen - The Game
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
The Clash - Combat Rock

Good thread topic....got me thinking about bands with 'staying power.'

So many bands. Some I loved then but can't stand anymore, some I hated then but like now, some I still like. Here are a few, in no particular order, and not all of which I still listen to...

- Ozzy (with randy, then jake)
- Van Halen
- ACDC (still love them)
- Ratt (warren's a great guitar player)
- Dokken (george is still the man)
- King's X
- Journey (neil still has amazing solo albums now)
- Scorpions (still love these guys, they're insane)
- Bon Jovi (i saw them open for ratt waaaay back)
- Toto (luke's one of my idols)
- Genesis
- Men at Work (and now collin's solo "man at work" acoustic stuff)
- Night Ranger
- Hall and Oates
- John Cougar (or whatever his last name is now)
- Howard Jones
- Stray Cats (still love these guys)
- Kenny Loggins
- Fleetwood Mac (still love them, lindsey's another idol)
- Def Leppard
- some Duran Duran
- Cars (still love them)
- Eagles (still love them)
- Bruce Hornsby
- Motley Crue

... and a few others I don't happen to have on my ipod now.

Okay, okay. I will probably get lit for this, but here goes anyway... There are three non-guitar-oriented bands from the 80s that I think are phenomenal. Great songwriting and overall musicality...
The Fixx
Tears for Fears
Huey Lewis
(being from the SF Bay Area, I saw him go from headlining clubs with a $2 cover to arenas ... tremendous live)

Note to DGONZ: Did you say Bon Jovi???? Yeah, I saw them back when they were an opening act, too. Except I hated them. I dunno, man. This may very well result in a "minus 2" to your currently quite-high Respect Factor score. (j/k)

Fixx was cool, Tears for Fears had some good stuff, Huey Lewis is great. Still love "Do You Believe In Love", that song will stick in your head for DAYS! (damn, now I have to listen to it).

Bon Jovi was one of the ones I liked back in the day, mainly because all the hot girls loved them, so I'd end up listening to them too and got used to them. Plus, their old stuff reminds me of high school (Living on a Prayer, Tokyo Road, etc). Great music? Eh, decent pop stuff. Guitar work? Ritchie's not bad, but nothing great. Just more of a nostalgia thang.
