Nice job.

Here's a suggestion. The next time you get a varnish flake off like that, just stick a cigarette under the strings and let it burn down to the offending spot. That charred look will cover the lack of varnish AND look real cool too!

Thanks for this thread. I have the same thing on a neck of mine and was doing a search to find out the best fix. Can you tell me a little more about grades of sand paper. Mine will need to end up satin too, is that just a steel wool finish? did you thin the PU? what did you apply it with?

I have a MIM white tele 8 yr old or so & a MIM natural finish 72 thin line I bought last summer & my 88 MIA srtat pluss deluxe I've had for ages, all with no varnish problems, maybe there is a shipping problem from Mexico to the U K like weather or temp. changes, COULD HAPPEN
