Ok boyz & girlz what's the strangest band that you have ever been in & I don't care how far you go with the way back machine, let me start with this band I was in for 3 yr. the bands name was called Confinement, confinement is police code for a pregnant woman, I was the lead guitar in a 8 piece band & 5 of the band members where chicago cops ( I am not) & lets say 3 out of the 5 cops had marignal mucical skills, I had some good times & bad but the best times I had is when we played at NAVY PIER each year for the air & water shows.

A band in the early '80s called True Life Confessions. The drummer was a friend of my dad's and was called Tony Dummer - his real name, not a pseudonym. Dummer the drummer...

The two female singers would start the evening in a provocative state of semi-undress and end it with even fewer clothes on, and during the interim much whipped cream got sprayed around the stage.

The music, such as I can remember of it, was a sort of South London New Wave/neo-Punk. Not that that was really the point...

On a more international level, anyone remember Split Enz, before they got all commercial and safe?

Cheers - C

That sounds wicked! My band was 5 hairy guys. They couldn't really compete with that.

I've just been inspired to ring my father and talk to him about it. He reminds me that True Life Confessions had a single with the sober title Don't Call Me Chicken Head. In fact, my dad played on it! He's a pretty decent amateur classical violinist, donnish, in his 50s at that time - so an obvious choice for an Ian Dury style New Wave record...!?

He also reminds me that they had the great honour of being banned by the BBC - which unfortunately killed their career, unlike the Pistols. However, the drummer, Tony Dummer, then went into rock management and looked after a band called The Screaming Blue Messiahs. They made a bit of money which Tony pocketed and ran off and bought himself a monestary in France. An everyday story of South London rock'n'roll folk...

Ceri I would have paid good money to see a couple almost naked women top themselves off with whip cream heaving their undulating bodies too & fro with the beat of the music frantically throwing their lathered bodies on the stage floor, you guys across the pond have all the fun.

I played drums for a band called the Jonestown Punch around 1995 or 1996, and we would pass out Kool Aid at our shows...then we evolved into the Oklahoma City Bombers. We played at this place in Memphis, and we usually lit fireworks off before we went onstage, so I ask the club manager if this was cool, to which he replied,"We've had GG Allin here, you guys can do whatever the f**k you want." If you don't know who GG Allin is, then you may not want to know...seriously, not for the weak at heart, and don't blame me if you do a search and vomit...

Devo. I like their version of "Satisfaction" too. Very different.

My strangest band ever consisted of a serious metal lead guitarist, a Hawai'ian drummer (as in islands type percussion, though he was also Hawai'ian), a lead singer who when not drunk was pretty good with ballads and myself on bass. My bass style is mostly jazz/blues, so that just rounded things out perfectly.

Needless to say, this didn't last too long.

strat_man & rudyh I want to know the strangest band that YOU HAVE EVER BEEN IN, not a band you think is strange, although the clip you sent rudy was kind of out there.
