Exactly right! Remember that some of the greatest started off making guitars out of cigar boxes, fence posts, baling wire and anythng else they could find. Bo Diddley said in an interview that he made his first guitar out of a fence post, some "chicken wire" and a nail to wrap the "string" around.

But it isn't the crude, homemade guitar that created the soul; rather it was the soul that created the urge. And that's going to come out no matter what you slap in such a person's hands.

I own quite a large collection of guitars, and Fender IS the best for that style (blues, country, neoclassical....). They are good for many styles of music. It's what ever you like and has a nice feel to it. (Don't pick an Ibanez with EMG pickups for blues, you know what I mean?)

Ho hum! It looks like all your wise words have fallen on deaf ears!

Aparently only a Dulux strat through a boutique amp with custom made overdrives will do!

...that's okay. Feelings not too shattered. Not reaching for the 'special' Kool-Aid.

And alas, casting metaphorical pearls of wisdom and lite humour before electric guitarists is much like, well...

And this site is ultimately all about selling product. 'Think a kit of a cigar box and chicken wire and nails has much market potential?

Most Fenders have been used to play Blues. Some examples . . .

Strats - Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, Guy, Cray, and 1000's of others;
Teles - Muddy Waters, Albert Collins (with a PAF HB in the bridge);
Jazzmaster - Magic Slim, Eddie C. Campbell, Doc Quinn;
Jaguar - Not many besides Nick Moss, but I hear the Jaguar HH is drawing blues players;
Mustang - Johnny Winter (before his Gibson and Lazer).

Now all you need to get started is the neck pup, the minor pentatonic scale, and the ability to bend strings. I'm gonna log off and go play!!

Well ... maybe ... if they're Havanas, and the wire comes from Californee Chickens that are allowed to spead their wings daily and the nails come from an artisan cabinetmaker who's clientelle all earn in the "High 6s."

My understanding is that upscale baby boomer collectors are looking for real vintage stuff, so here it is ...

... the All New Fender Genuine I-66 Crossroads RootsAxe

The cheapest (least expensive) one you can find!
It's hard to legitimately play "the blues" if you can afford a Custom Shop guitar.

Just thinking out loud here

I know it's about the player, but my question is, why don't we see alot of blues players playing a Gibson Les Paul???

Interesting!! I thought there must be a lot of them, but many are blues rockers. Off the top of my head I can come up with only . . .

Freddie King
Peter Green
Gary Moore
'60s-era Clapton
Duane Allman
Dicky Betts

There must be others and I must be forgetting someone who should be obvious. Seems to me most bluesmen with Gibsons tend to lean toward the ES-300 series or one of the big box models.

try out the Powerhouse strat. Humbucking SC pickups and adjustable gain. The neck w/ full mid-boost is a PURE blues delight!

The best Fender to use for playing blues is-the one in your hands.
Blues isn't about what guitar you have, it's about what's in you.
BB King is going to sound like BB King no matter what guitar he has.
Albert King would still sound like Albert King if he had played a Strat.

It's more in the player than the guitar.

So, to extrapolate, what's the best guitar for playing blues?
The one in your hands.

Les Pauls are great blues guitars, so are Fenders.

Interestingly enough-Stevie Ray Vaughan's two most obvious influences-Albert King & Lonnie Mack-spent most of their time playing Flying V's.
