Have a look at this from UK TV show 'Later' and check out the solo. Glen Campbell is 72.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0bTD70ser58

As a session musician in the 1960s he worked with Bobby Darin, Ricky Nelson, The Monkees, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, The Velvet Underground, Frankie Laine, The Association, Jan & Dean and The Mamas & the Papas.

He was a touring member of The Beach Boys, filling in for an ailing Brian Wilson in 1964 and 1965.

His guitar playing can be heard on ‘Strangers in the Night’ by Frank Sinatra, ‘You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'‘ by The Righteous Brothers and ‘I'm a Believer’ by The Monkees.

Glen Campbell was also a member of the virtually unknown group of super-musicians known as the Wrecking Crew. These are the real musicians behind an insane number of pop hits in the '60s. Glen Campbell is just about the only one who escaped obscurity.

You can read about the Wrecking Crew at http://www.americanheritage.com/articles/magazine/ah/2007/1/2007_1_48.shtml

Leon Russell played the Key boards as a member of the Wrecking Crew he started out as a session player himself.

Thanks for the post. I downloaded to my IPOD.

My old man loves Glen Campbell, and I have been listening to him since birth.

I have not heard that song in years, and that really brought back a lot of memories.

Thanks again!

Glen's always been a damn fine guitar player. He was even better and faster when his fingers weren't 72 years old. Another great country guitar player who doesn't get enough props is Roy Clark. That man was something. Listen to some of his work with Joe Pass on YouTube. Same can be said for the recently passed Jerry Reed.

I know that I am going to catch a lot of flack for this, but Hee Haw had some really great jam sessions, not only that, it was stupid fun!! Buck Owens, Roy Clark, and guest stars...I loved it for what it was.

The wrecking Crew were the session musicians hired by the very mentaly sound Phil Spector for everything he wrote and recorded.

(Brian Wilson used them for a while, but I'm not sure for which albums exactly. Must be Pet sounds onwards while he was staying home recording while the rest of the Beach Boys were touring)

There were a lot of great musicians in the Wrecking Crew.

Yup. Glen Campbell was and still is one hot guitar player.

Thanks for bringing these talented musicians to mind! I would have said, "Glen Campbell - ewwww!" before your very correct reminder that he and the Wrecking Crew were big time players. Listening to Glen made my hair stand up! Awesome, lasting talent. I should be so lucky.
