I forget stuff too. Like I used to be able to play Purple Haze and now I don't remember anything but the very beginning. Most of my repertoire is gone; forgotten. I must be getting old. :D

That's my problem too - I played all the time from 67 through about 78 but then employed life crept up on me. I did a few community musicals in the 80s but that was about it. 90s ... nothing until one day in 2001 The Bug hit and I bought a guitar.

But I couldn't remember a single old tune even though I played some hundreds of times in a commercial band. I tried jamming with a couple "classic rock" bands where I knew someone, but it just didn't come back fast enough to suit them. (Hey, dude, we can tell you can play but you don't remember ANY old songs ... ?)

So since, I've gotten tab on line, practice every chance I get and I'm up for taking another shot at sitting in with people. I've found a couple other guys here in the same situation who're up for at as well. I even have a good band name in mind:

As a teen, I painstakingly learned "Stairway to Heaven" (hold the groans, this was before everyone was sick of hearing it!!!). I could play it cold. A few years ago someone asked me to play it. At one point I just had to stop because I couldn't remember what came next.

Like McCartney sez -- Memory Almost Full.
