as far as i understand the modern starcaster is a entry level stratocaster.
The oldentimes starcaster is a different guitar thats worth a fair bit now.

No you are not stupid, they are very good guitars for learning on, you loved it yesterday, nothings changed. later, when you've got proficient on the guitar you might want to move to a Stratocaster.
But for now stick with this, you are making all the right moves, lots of practice is needed now. More expensive guitars will still be there in the future, when you are ready.
Stay happy, work hard, rewards will come at the right time.
Ok.

yeah!
that's what i'm doing right now
reading & watching lessons and practicing all the free time...

have one problem... no matter how i tune the guitar or amp, there's still more or less back noise... how to reduce the back noise on the cheep amp (included in the pack)? 8)

ps i'm thinking about buying another one... the guitar is good for the begginer, but the amp makes terrible back noise :(

You can get noise from the amp just by being too close to it with your guitar, especially if you've got overdrive or distortion turned on.
Try moving farther away, or sit to the side and turn your amp away from you. Move around the room abit with your guitar and see if the noise eases off.

Ok. Next thing you consider is your guitar lead. Cheap leads don't screen very well so you get buzzing noises. Try a better lead.
By the way, is this a new amp?
Another thing is that you can pick up noise from other electrical appliances that are running. TVs, Fridges etc. If you can turn some things off and then try it. A process of elimination. Try these things before you consider spending more money.

ok, it's PC
will try to turn it off later

by the way, powerful magnetic souces like speakers can be the reason? they are disconnected but they are big (~ 1.5 KWt) :?
