I don't get the question about what 'time period' that any guitar of mine SHOULD represent. As far as I'm concerned, guitars and amps are NOT 'time capsules', they're a DESIGN that either WORKS or DOESN'T, at least for what I play.

For instance (and it's not the only guitar I have that I could refer to), I like my USA '52 RI Tele, partly because of the simplicity of design and quality of construction and materials, as well as the way it sounds: and partly because it was pro modded by a previous owner for a HB in the neck pickup position and a 5-way pickup switch for split-coil and series/parallel pickup function--it's about as versatile as I need a Tele to be. I've thought about getting another USA '52 RI, but I've always wound up asking myself WHY--as in, is there another one that's better than the one I have already? The answer is no, not in my mind--I'm happy with what I've got.

You might disagree, but they kinda are. If not they won't be producing RI models of a certain time to capture the sound of by gone era.
