I wondered when this thread would come up. I first played the harmonica, then the ukelele. Next came piano lessons, (the only formal training I had). Then six string nylon folk guitar, then twelve string. AT that time I also learned how to play a gut-bucket, (seriously!) Then we moved up a notch and I played electric base and some five string long neck banjo. And for most of that time I had wanted and recently got - a Fender Strat!!

Not many people have had more fun than me.

I started with drums and bagpipe.
Then got a roland synth.
Guitar was the the last and the one I stuck with.

Hello 3-Tone,

Aye, couple of pipers out there.
I'm a student of the Scottish great highland bagpipe
for about 3 decades. 8)

Guitars are almost as nice

Cheers.

Plug your guitar into some midi synch modules, you can turn it into an entire orchestra or a male voice choir, in fact anything, using actual sound samples.

Cool Mr Bill, nothing quite like the pipes to get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up :D

I also play keyboards and the harmonica, well I try!

I was a proud Band Geek in HS, played Cornet, Baritone, and Trombone.

I play bass (I have a couple of Guild USA Pilots and Rick 4003s), and I mess about with straight steel (not pedal steel) guitar--I have two '55 D-8 Stringmasters for that, plus a circa '39 Kalamazoo (Gibson built) A-style mandolin, a '90's Deering Boston 5-string banjo, and a '61 Hammond M-3 tube-driven Spinet organ with tube-driven reverb. One of these days, I'll get good with at least ONE of these!

I've been playing piano for over 33 years (and I still play it everyday), alto sax & trumpet for 9 years, steel/nylon string acoustic/classical & electric guitar and bass for over 23 years, a little harmonica where needed, and drums (although I'm not too good at them, but practice will hopefully fix that). Oh yeah a little singing as well, but NO SCREAMING like a lot of metal bands seem to find necessary for some reason... 8)

It doesn't really count, but I did play the big stand up string bass thing for about a year.

Same here. Nice thing about having older brothers. You occasionally get some of the leftover gear!

I still play keys, drums and bass fairly often.

Besides guitar & bass I have a harmonica--but not that great at it.
I dabble in keyboard.

That's cool! I hear it's a bit rough on the hands, though, unless you do the classical bow thing. True?
