When you get right down to it the Presidency isn't where the power lies. The House and Senate are the ones that control what happens. Yes the Presidency is a powerful office, but the person sitting in the White House really can't do much independently without the approval of Congress.

We should be complaining about THOSE jackholes.

* All Politicians lie (thier main purpose is to get in of stay in office
* All Politicians are dishonest (if they REALLY wanted to "help people" they would be social workers
* I think we should elect a couple of "housewives" into office. They, for the most part, are used to balancing budgets every month. We'd be in better shape within a year. Maybe load the House and Senate with "real people" instead of professional politicians who's only real concern is getting re elected.

Whatever happended to "By the People" and "For the People"? What do any of these wealthy "Representatives" have to do with any of us? They make tons of cash for producing nothing but hot air, they don't live where we live, their kids don't go to the same schools that ours do.

We need to get some sensible, regular folks in office. Instead of these overeducated can't take a stand and keep it, knkuckleheads.

Heck if the Government had divided that 700 Billion dollars equally amongst each adult US citizen (after taking out their taxes first of course) it would have hella stimulated the economy. We would have been investing, and buying houses, and celebrating. ECONOMY FIXED.

Being some we'd like to have a beer with or someone we'd like to &%*$ is not a qualification for the Presidency!! :x

I will write in Ron Paul.

If ever we truly needed some hard core change..now is the time to act..the lip service of the others is getting old.

Now I admit Palin is hot in that "school teacher milf" kind of way..and Obama is an inspirational speaker..and McSame is a war hero..but none of those qualify IMO as a resume to be the leader of the free world, and help pull this country out of the toilet and back to where our constitution means something.

The worst part of having Obama for president is Nancy Pelosi. Keep in mind that it is the House of Reps where all spending bills and legislation must begin. It is scary to think about the pile of extreme liberal legislation and program spending that Pelosi will generate for Obama to sign. Scary...

I'm in full agreement with you Bro. With a Democrat in the Oval Office and Dems in control of the House it could get very expensive for us tax payers. Especially if taxes get raised on businesses as Senator Obama is promising. Then the Businesses just raise their prices to cover the increased costs and we get screwed again!

The buggers need to spend less. Short and simple.

Man this is so true the last thing we need is one party running both houses and the oval office. Hang on to your wallets because they are going to get pick if that happens. Look at The Socialist Republic of Maryland. Been run by one party for over 50 year but for 4 years we had a Govenor that was not in the majority and they were the best 4 years we had out of 50 with taxes because he would just Veto them. I find it amusing that many say McCain is just another Bush but the many Republicans were not happy of his pick because for many years has sided and worked with the other party several issues that upset the Republican party showing he will work both. I dont see that with Obama who says he is like that. And Obama could have picked a better running mate for sure but they party made him take Biden who In my opinion is the worst of all 4 on the 2 tickets which is bad when you think none of them would have been my pick  I think a lot of our economy problems are the from the 1999 Banking Reform that allowed banks to do things they had not been able to do because of regulation and it promoted more loans to be made to lower quilified people. Now were paying for it.

I fear as many do that the candidates aren't the best representatives of thier parties. I forget who said it but the saying goes leave thee politics to the politicians. I think that McCain/Palin have a little more diversity in thier politics than Obama/Biden.

Bingo.

Why were the banks now making these risky loans, though?
Because Fannie and Freddie's buying up of home loans was tied to a score that REQUIRED lenders to make loans to people who were not properly qualified, in the name of "extending homeownership to all". That is ... for the bank to participate in the loan-selling market which is primarily how they make their money, they were FORCED to make bad loans. This scoring was a congressional act, and -- in my opinion -- is the crux of the whole mess. It is interesting that Bush has been fighting to remove this scoring, but had previously been unsuccessful.

Anyway, that is my $0.02...

But...whoever is the top dog (the President), is responsible...like a CEO. However..seems our CEO's get a nice compensation for failing miserably and raping the stockholders...

Well anyhow regardless of which idiots win the election..it won't be Ron Paul unfortunatly. But since the economy is destroyed right now i can't find a job anyway..so taxes are not really a concern for me regardless. The issue is fixing the MESS we are in now..and getting out of this "war"..which is not a war because we were NOT attacked by a country. So when a politition says "we need to WIN this war"..what does that mean??? Kill everyone in the middle east? I don't undertsnad what "win" means in this case. I just know it is costing trillions. The national debt counter in NYC had to have a digit added because it ran up past it's maximum capacity.

Anyone think all the above possibly factor into this mess? aside from the mortgage issue..which our goverment allowed to happen on their watch..it's a joke..but a sad one. I LOVE this country...but.....

...it is time to clean house in a big way.

I might as well add this while I am in "venting" mode. Now Ron Paul is not the greatest politician. Obama is. But the reason Ron had such a strong following is his platform..and the fact that he is really a smart man..a Doctor.

He wants to get out of the BS mess in Iraq and stop policing the world. He wants to completly dismantle the IRS..but understands of course we need to pay our debts first. He wants to bring back the gold standard..in other words make our money actually worth something again. The federal reserve just keeps printing it out like worthless paper..which unfortunatly is what it has become..and THAT my friends is the reason for the econmic decline..and higher gas prices..which correct, are falling now..but due to consistantly falling stock prices...which to those unaware..is called a recession.

Ok there now done. Sorry for the rant.

Yes. Let's vote EVERYONE out of Congress ... demos and republicans. Then instill TERM LIMITS w/ CAMPAIGN REFORM.

This could fix so much. But neither will happen because:
a) the people do not have the will for the aforementioned, and
b) congress will never permit the latter

:x

Correct....it's kinda like the medical industry..where they make all this money selling stuff that is supposed to make you better..but in reality it is not actually in their best interest to "cure" anything. Hence they rarely do.

I'm not too worried about the Dem's having complete control. It should only last two years. The mid-term elections will probably swing the Republicans way enough to prevent the Dem's from being fillibuster-proof. I like having balance, I think most people do to.
