I like my Telecaster for Telecasting, and my Strat for Stratting.

I prefer the strat for the whammy bar. But if I didn't use that feature, I might like the Telecaster a bit better. I really like the Telecaster.

My 1974 Telecaster Deluxe came equipped with a tremolo bridge. Sometime before I bought it in 2002, the whammy bar was broken off in the block and I haven't tried to drill it out. I am not really tool-skilled enough to take that on myself.

"It wasn't very large. There was just enough room to cram the drums in the corner over by the Dodge. It was a '54 with a mashed up door and a cheesy little amp, with a sign on the front said Fender Champ and a second hand guitar....it was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar!"

The feel of a Strat and the sound of a Tele.

I like the looks and playability of Stratocasters. Telecasters look odd to me (the headstock), but I saw a Tele with a Strat headstock. I liked the way it looked.

There is a Gibson forum on their website and I'm sure the issue comes up.

It was the Tele J5 Deluxe signature model I saw. It's nice. I probably could not afford something like that for a long long time.

Agreed. Now if only there were specialized guitars for Mastering Jazz and Bassing with Precision... :P
