Before I go out and start test driving acoustics, what other makes/models are the Fender acoustics comparable to? I've never thought of them as an acoustic company but thought maybe I'd give it a try (unless they are crap of course).

They are decently made acoustics. I had one of the lower end models. I'm not comfortable with most acoustics so I did get rid of it.
Check them out, you will not be sorry.

Acoustics are not the "hot card" by Fender, but I think they're pretty decent guitars and they last for years and years! Very well made. I guess it depends on what level you are. They're great for beginners but also for advanced players, but if you are a professional musician I think you'll prefer something else like a Taylor, a Martin or a Gibson...

Groovy guys thanks. That's what I needed to know, in case the shop doesn't have them there for a side by side comparison.

I love Fender electrics and amps, but not a fan of their acoustic at all. They feel cheap to and I don't like the tone.

If you want a decent, cheaper acoustic with a solid top, I'd look at a Epi Hummingbird or something.

Even the bottom of the line Guilds are great guitars and made to last pretty much forever.

Sorry Fender :P

Most companies (Ibanez, Yamaha, etc) cheaper to mid-level acoustics are made by Cort anyway. I would look for a decent solid top Cort myself.
