Build a COMPLETE line of tube amps in the US. From a Champ-like
sub-$400 on up. As a matter of fact, if they now own Groove Tubes,
move that manufacturing here too. Tubes and amps with American
mojo. How could that not sell? Even abroad.

Hmm 8) A high quality U.S.A. made groove tube Fender line :?:

I have heard that some people get ahold of Fender headstock decals and 'convert' Squiers. I was also told that Fender leads the 'witch-hunt' for anyone offering real or fake luthier decals on places like eBay. Since FMIC owns Squier, what is the big deal anyway?

It reminds me of the (incompetent) Government spending tons more money on finding and prosecuting unreported 'little mistakes' in social service checks (calling it welfare fraud), than the amounts the so-called fraud actually cost. Sometime back in the 90's my own county spent better than $100,000 on a new computer system that was out-dated by the time it was delivered and it simply went into basement storage. NO one was prosecuted or even held responsible for that fiasco, but the tax-payers still had to cover the wasted expenditure.

If the issue is the sale of a high-quality Squier under the logo-pretense of it being a regular Fender, that's a different story. However, as long as you own the axe, you should be allowed to mod it any way you choose. Just be honest and reveal ALL the mods to the buyer IF and when it's sold.

For years Fender has authorized luthiers to fix (& a-fix) decals that were issued TO them BY Fender to appropriate headstocks. The REAL thing (luthier retirement?) offered on websites like eBay go for big bucks! I hear it's the reproductions that Fender has a cow over. By the threats I've heard about, you'd think it was as big a federal crime as counterfeiting U.S. currency.

IE: If a real or authorized Fender neck (with logo and serial number) is purchased and attached to a Squier body (or any other brand of Tele or Strat body) what 'crime' has been committed? Is there some 'line' to this "offense"? At what point does any of this impact their copy-rights? Aren't there a LOT of other companies that make both Strat & Tele-like guitars? Some are even said to be as good or better for the money. What is so incendiary that Fender feels they have to 'police' the world like CIA?

It certainly isn't Gibson's 'Job' to stop their China reproduction Fakes, as it's always been "buyer beware"... and Gibson LOST their suit against PRS and their 'Single-cut' model. I'd think the money involved in such 'policing' would be better spent on ways to manufacture a higher-quality product at a lower cost. Isn't that the real issue for everyone?
