I'd like to see hollow body Strat models in the US Standard range. So much easier with modern CNC routers. James Tyler has been at it for ages with his Superstrats; the likes of Warmoth offer it as an option; and at the opposite end of the spectrum even Epiphone have been doing a chambered Les Paul for a while. And chambered Gibson Standard LPs have arrived, too. C'mon, Fender...

Also. We've had staggered tuners as standard on Am Standards and Deluxes for a long time. It is about time those guitars came without the string tree in place, so that the buyer could fit if wanted, but otherwise leave the headstock undrilled. A pet niggle of mine...

Lastly, having bought my Sienna Sunburst in 2005 when I'd not seen any others around I would like Fender to immediately discontinue my color. It's becoming far too popular!

Cheers - C

How about a good quality solid state amp? The FM and the Frontman series of amps aren't really all that good. I owned a FM 212 over 2 years ago and it was one of the worst amps I had ever owned.

Really? I played one at a shop, and it sounded incredible.

ALL solid state? OK for bass, PA or keyboards, but GUITAR? You gotta have at least one pre-amp tube to get REAL tone..... not "emulated".

That's MY nearly 45 years of accumulated 2 cents worth. Maybe considered 'just an opinion', but beyond my own ears & experience, I've talked to many expert sound-techs and electronic repair people who know the score. "You can replace &/or upgrade a lot of things in a circuit that do the same job, possibly even a better job...... BUT, you CAN'T get a warm tube sound from a cold transistor...... close, yeah..... but the results are always dry and flat instead of wet and round....... period.

Relative 'impossible to achieve' examples:

Ask any Chef: There's NO such thing as an electric stove that cooks anywhere near as well as a gas stove.
Likewise..... charcoal beats out propane any & every day in the week.

Also: Microwave? Thawing, re-warming or reheating previously stove cooked food..... fine, but COOK from raw with it? Pleaseeee: RUBBER!

> There is NO digital substitute for a LIVE person answering the phone.

> There is No explaining tints & colors to a blind-from-birth person.

> There is No explaining the world of music to a deaf-from-birth person.

> There is NO resolving "pi" to the last digit.

> There is NO escaping the grip of a black hole.....

Some of these may sound harsh or even extreme, but they are simply known absolute facts.

To encapsulate: A transistor replacing a tube is like a robot replacing a human..... the emotion.... warmth & love just isn't there & never will be.

Got 3 cents change for a nickel? :P

I say, FMIC should ship a prototype of all Stratocasters they are designing from this point forward to me for honest, unbiased evaluation. Of course, I will give them realistic feedback, constructive criticism where necessary and any suggestions on improvement as necessary. As remuneration for my learned services/experience, I get to keep all said guitars. It's a win-win situation!!!

Solid state isn't really even okay for bass. Most of us have probably simply grown used to it because of the prohibitive cost of all tube rigs at bass power levels. But the popularity of tube pre's and the current crop of hybrids illustrates that tubes are superior in bass as well. I was one of the first to grab an Ampeg SVT-DI when they came out and I as well as non-musician audiophile friends notice the favorable difference.

The rest of your list -- GREAT!!! I love it and very accurate too. But as for that nickel, sorry to say that due to budget cuts at work, I've been living on nothing but blues power. No nickel but hey if anyone can spare a dime ... :D

Build a COMPLETE line of tube amps in the US. From a Champ-like
sub-$400 on up. As a matter of fact, if they now own Groove Tubes,
move that manufacturing here too. Tubes and amps with American
mojo. How could that not sell? Even abroad.

Come on! It's blimmin' genius!

How about a re-issue of the Dave Murray '57 Strat built to his exact specs of that guitar. Instead of being a MIJ, maybe it could be either a MIA or MIM. To keep it within the price range I was looking at it would probably need to be MIJ or MIM. They could have 2 versions, Relic and N.O.S. Personally I would want the N.O.S., but I am sure some would want the Relic version. Also make it affordable for struggling musicians and hobbiest. Mabe under $900 (US), whatever that would equate to around the world.

They could make a sort of guitar that is heavy with lots of sustain, like a LP, and put EMG's in it. It would be great for metal players, or "off-season" metal players like me!

Agreed...Thicker body, heavier neck, EMG's. Could work. Love to hear it.

Philip602: OK.... I'm sure at least one tube for warmth and color is good for a Bass too....... however, in any case, the prime reason (from what I & many others have been through) that speaks volumes the older you get, is WEIGHT. Yes, dependability due to longer life of components, no doubt due to the 'heat' factor.... these are the issues that one must juggle with and decide on.... how important is the slight difference in sound, nearly un-noticeable amidst all the other sounds in the full mix, as opposed to one's back? Initial pocketbook hit? Continuous tube check-expense and worry of failure during a gig; tube switch-out hassle on break? (got spares??? LOL)

IF you absolutely HAVE to get that tube sound for your Bass, despite the extra power needed that incurs the extra weight.... you may need to get one or both: Wheels &/or Roadies.... otherwise you may find out exactly what it means to be a 'die hard'....

Don't get me wrong.... as a guitarist (mostly) I am a serious TUBE guy, BUT as I get older, I can appreciate the advantages of minimizing weight and saving on the aches, pains and sore muscles as a trade-off with a slight dip in 'perfect' sound quality.

I've owned really heavy all-tube amps with monster transformers AND I had an all-transistor GK amp. Low, bottom half... 'quality' difference: barely perceptible... only noticed the farther up the neck you go into the top half of your Bass's range. (At least to MY ears.)

Studio? Tubes are a must.... LIVE? mmmm well, I guess that depends.... doesn't it?

I don't care what your age is or if you have 'Mr. Universe' muscles.... after moving and setting up equipment and then playing a long energetic gig..... ending the night by putting a smile on your "other-half's" face might easily introduce you to a 'vacation' in traction..... "Hello 1 tube amps!" LOL

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the crack with the Stratosonic?
Sratocaster body in Mahogany with two P90 pickups. I've seen these around but never held one.
As anybody played one of these?
There may be possibilities here for interesting expansions on an all round instrument with sonic variations.
