You gotta keep the Faith :!: There are a lot of good people here on the Forum but like every thing else in Life theres a few bumps in the road and you just go over them and keep on going. I think it is Forum growing pains

Yeah, I agree. I know they are youngins and newbies just asking questions, but it does get annoying.

Strat or Tele: Which is better? Pick one! :P

Which pickup should I buy?

MIA and MIM: What's the difference - really?

That's exactly it!!!!!
Nevermind, eh.
That said though, I like a good 'which overdrive?' post. I wonder why I'm more tolerant of these?

I guess you're like me ,I like to hear other posters opinions as long as they are good natured advice and experiences

It's like you want to help them out, but at the same time, they have to learn that there is never any one better of anything, for everyone, in every situation. Guitars, jobs, cars, women, whatever.

Strat or Tele, which is better?
Better for WHAT? Who are you? What style do you play? Who do you want to sound like? Which feels and sounds better to you? Blah blah blah. Then, you answer your own question.

But if they don't think for themselves, and just say "Strat is better. 100%, all the time, for every style, and everyone in the world will agree" - then you're not really helping them.

If you tell them and they listen blindly, then you're not really helping them. If you make them think and learn, even if their fragile ego might get a little ruffled, then you've helped them far more - for this question and the rest of their musicial journey.

Nobody wants to hurt feelings, especially me. But there's a time, on occassion, when you just have to stop being so damn politically correct and butt-kissing and just say it like it is.

I've only been seriously in to the guitar for about 18 months now, I came here to learn more abot Fender guitars. And for the most part, I've picked up some great tips. I'm probably guilty of the mundane post's, which band would you play in etc etc. But I really thought that's what the lounge was for, my apologies to the older posters. This is a cool site, I would hate to think I was ruining it. No more mundane post's from this poster, although I don't feel I've been negative in any of them :)

A Tele is much better for rhyming with 'belly' or 'smelly' if you're writing an amusing lymeric.

There we go. Problem solved......Although Strat rhymes with cat quite nicely.....

D'oh! Now the debate will rage on forever!

The forum's for everyone, for whatever question they have. If I think something's mundane, I just leave it alone and go to something else, knowing that others will reply, etc. I often reply to various things, on different forums here, and other forums on the internet.

I would never say not to post something, like you do. You have questions and you SHOULD ask. I'm just saying to learn from them too, which will help your playing more than just a social medium. So that in a month, you're not still asking very generally "which XXX is better???" , because neither is. BUT - one may be a little better suited for YOU, depending on the details you provide so others can try to find the better fit for you.

Is a MIA better than a MIM? Well, for me, yes. For someone else, not necessarily. For some, an MIA would be a waste of money, and for others, a Squier or Hello Kitty guitar might seriously be the "best" FOR THEM, depending on how serious they are and what their budget is, etc.

There once was a man from Deli
Who played country on his Tele
He bought a pet cat
Who played rythm on a strat
While duck walking around on his belly.

I thankyou!

A long truism which is remembered personally / occasionally here:

Not everyone lives in Chicago where there are 200 music stores and you can talk to folks and have the basic questions answered in person or try out different guitars and amps until your fingers and ears bleed.

Not everyone is a zillion yeras old / playing for decades / life-battle-scarred / self-educated in a lot of this jive. Oh, yeah, or mellow-tolerant.

Here's a raised cup of tea to things staying fun and civil and keeping the Lounge free from being an e- bar fight.

Posting something like which Band would you like to gig withi is not a bad Topic. Thats a thought provoking topic and gives everyone a chance to see what others think. Its neat how you hear so many different answers to things like that. It shows how different we are in taste and age because many of us older posters have seen Bands like Savoy Brown and Deep Purple and the younger peeps might go see Fall Out Boys, Tokio Hotel some bands my 19 year old son listens to I never heard of and when I do I like some and some I don't.

I've always enjoyed your topics and post Snowy!! You can't talk technical stuff All the time . I know mostly what I've learned on this forum. Lots of good info, but it's nice just to talk and that is what the lounge is for my friend!!

I think it's one thing to have some fun random stuff, but I think it's good to have the ballance of useful stuff to. And that, as has been said, is being outnumbered. I find myself on here less...although I think that could have something to do with just schedules and stuff. But still...

I agree that the absolute Bollucks topics like "I like ice cream" shouldn't be here. But for the most part I think anything fun, informative, or seeking information is good. It is just The Lounge after all.

these forums are what they are ,ive said dumb things and had my feelings hurt,im a beginner and thats to be expected ,ive also seen really good people get alienated here (highway one player)just to name one ,i think we all bring to the table something positive or negetive and you just have to ask yourself what your attracted to ,people will come and go on this forum,i miss guys like gravity jim,but that is the nature of folks to move on when you dont get the satisfaction in participating any more ,i think all you guys are great we have one common link we love fender guitars enough to spend time talking about them, jazzpowerbass have a great time in NYC. all you guys its a privelage to for me to be here and thank you all
