Has anyone else noticed this disturbing trend on our boards? It's sad, really. Once upon a time, I'd sign on and be bombarded with a wealth of useful information... playing tips, set up advice, product reviews and recommendations, wiring help, etc. Now I have to sift through post after post of "I hate this style, don't you?" "I hate this artist, don't you?" "I have this many guitars, aren't I great?" just to find a hidden tidbit or two.

Perhaps this is why some of the "older" posters aren't on here so much anymore.

That's just my 2 cents worth. I'm sure I'll be stomped all over for saying it.

+1!! This needs to stay the friendly and helpful site it's always been. I for one will not engage in a this or that is the only way to go or equipment to own post, they can fight it out between themselves. I also will continue to welcome new posters of all types of music or skill level! :)

it happens everywhere, unfortunately!
I haven't felt the negativity vibe on this forum yet, but let's hope it's not gonna be like the Ultimate Guitar forums!

I would think Brad would step in and control it before it gets that bad! There are a lot of great posters on this site, the bad ones are outnumbered and should just be ignored. Sad! :(

I'm probably to blame here - I'm a proper miserable sod!

I mean well, but all those posts which read 'I play in a metal band, should I buy a blue Tele or a green one?' make me want to scream!

Oh, and those posts about SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH and SRV and jeff Beck and Dave Gilmour and EVH.............

No particular poster is to blame, just pass those post by that you don't want to be a part of. Easy! Peace man! :) 8)

I try not to participate in the "flame" posts. I figure, as long as people are making music, of whatever genre, it's a good thing. I've learned from everyone from Chicken Pickers to Shredders and every style and skill level. We all have something to contribute if we'll only listen.

Don't get caught up in only appreciating one style. Life is way to short to limit your input.

That's a good healthy outlook.

To paraphrase Monty Python "Society is to blame, so we will be banning them too!" :)

Now I am off to the Ministry of Silly Walks.

I don't participate in those post (I'd try hard not to, but sometimes I do). Some new guys are looking for an forum war in the bass section. So far we have it under control, a lot of people full of wisdom hangin' in there - I'm not one of them, since I do get baited to argue. Brotherdave in a very wise way told this person that the Fender forum is pretty laid back, no need to bait people in arguments - paraphrasing of course.

Yeah, I agree. I know they are youngins and newbies just asking questions, but it does get annoying.

Strat or Tele: Which is better? Pick one! :P

Which pickup should I buy?

MIA and MIM: What's the difference - really?

For the most part, it is very laid back here too. So sometimes I think the older crew (me included) gets jumpy when someone baits an argument. I'm gonna try to mellow out too. I don't know how easy that's going to be since I'm flying out today to go back to NYC for a few days. We'll I see I guess. :)

That's exactly it!!!!!
Nevermind, eh.
That said though, I like a good 'which overdrive?' post. I wonder why I'm more tolerant of these?
