Outkast is pure genius. Listen to Stankonia or The Love Below and tell me that ain't funky. Great stuff to jam some funky strat licks to.

Fugees also made some excellent conscious music.

And personally I likes me some old Public Enemy too. Tell 'em what time it is Chuck. Yeaaaah boyyyyyyy!

Saying all rap sucks is like saying all rock sucks because you don't like Twisted Sister or George Michael. Open your minds people.

I own two rap discs, both by Dr. Dre. That's about as deep into the rap spectrum as I get with the exception of Anthrax's "I'm The Man" EP.

The destructive junk that is rap has begun to infect Rock n Roll too.
Check the trends:

Widespread use of detuning (it's just lazy)
Growing trend to retune guitars so that barreing results in chords (OMG)
Noticeable lack of anything resembling a decent guitar solo
Lots of "Cookie Monster" vocalists
Rap/Rock

And on a side note, what the heck is with the cartoon characters in "Black Metal"? I think they are trying to be scary but it's really rather comical.

Rap is a pinko-commie-socialist plot to lure innocent kids and gullible adolescents away from learning to like and play music and instruments.

I'm just saying that it's becoming more prevalent in rock now and that I'm not real pleased with the current seeming downward spiral.

Most of it doesn't do anything for me, odd ones are ok like Eminem's ' Lose Yourself ' I think that's what it was called.

It's an excellent work of art by a very talented writer and performer. Do you have a link to your work so we can see if you are more talented than Andre 3000?

As I said above, saying all rap sucks is like saying all rock sucks because you don't like Twisted Sister or George Michael.

I suppose a lot of you hate country, classical, and R&B too.

I like some rap music.

Some rap is good, some rap is not, but its not for everyone, just like bluegrass music isn't for everyone...but we live in a world where there's something for everyone, so you might not get it or like it, but that doesn't mean just because you don't think its good or don't like it, that everyone else should think the same way you do.

Agreed. This thread should be renamed "Let VanHelen Talk Crap About/To You if You Don't Share His Opinion."

Honestly. Most of the folks on this forum are very cool people. Tastes in all aspects of life probably run the spectrum within forum members. Where do you get off making people feel bad because they enjoy listening to somthing you do not?
