I don't think this forum is only for great or even good guitarist. To me it's just a place where anyone at any skill level is welcome to ask questions or help if they can. I don't see this as a competition site. Why do you have to have your own web site to prove you are worthy of being here? I will freely admit I'm no where near as good as most of the posters on here! So I'm not welcome to be here? :? Peace brother :)

The funniest part of this whole thread is that ALL of you that responded are the dudes that I hold personally in VERY high regards. The handful of people that I was talking about didn't even post anything here.

Crying Strat: No one needs to prove anything to me because I'm no better than anyone else here...I would think that you'd know better than to accuse me of something like that and it actually kind of makes me feel bad that you'd think that way of me.

I do know what this site is about and that's why I'm here seeing how my Straight Six has been my main axe for a couple of months now.

01GT eibach: You've got it bro! That's what I was getting at all along even though I tried to insert some examples here and there which must have somehow got dudes off-track for a minute.

Anyway it's still funny to me that the people that I'm talking about didn't post because I was going to hit them with both barrels even though it probably wouldn't have done any good.

BTW do you really want to know who my favorite guitarist is/was...?

ANDREAS SEGOVIA!!!

Great choice. He's brilliant.

I never did think that way about you man. I think you just did a bad job of trying to get a point across. You came off as being a bit superior. I'm still not quite sure where you were going with that. I don't hate ya though. I'll just call it a misunderstanding.

Segovia was brilliant indeed. The main guitar director at Interlochen (interlochen.com) - John Wunsch - was taught my Segovia himself. How great would that be?

I was a big fan of him and Christopher Parkening back when I started many moons ago and started in classical. Can't remember much of it now, haven't played it in years. Was big into Tarrega, Sor, and Obregon.

I've never seen any vicious type attacks in here, except for a few trolls who were doing such things on purpose, to cause a reaction. And those have been booted out of the forum for their posts.

I actually consider this forum a very tame forum in comparison to other forums and chat rooms that I've been involved with. The only thing I've noticed is that people will give their opinions about certain types of music, or artists that they don't like........and doing that is hardly attacking. Just an opinion.

I don't like the style of music that a lot of people like........and I like a lot of music that other people don't like. Don't see the big deal. It's all a matter of personal taste, the way I see it.

I like pretty much most music, and have even been known to go to a symphony at times. Yet, I don't like rap or operas. Now I know that I can't perform at an opera, but even though I can't play those particular types of instruments or......as well, even if I could......I still know that I don't like it! And that's not an attack.

I don't think anyone can force me to like a style of music. Just not gonna happen.

Jeez! I think this is one of the most respectful and gracious forum sites going!

That's why I stay. Even ppl who don't agree with each other are at least tolerant and polite about it.

Admittedly -- I haven't been here very long, but I have yet to see any bashing going on. Disagreements yeah, but for the most part it's been mucho civil!

A couple of cheap shots, but that always totally reflects on the poster, not the site

I suppose ppl could post their MySpace pages or whatever. Personally I haven't laid anything down in almost ten years and I don't know if y'all would be interested in older stuff. Here's my old 80s band. The other bands since then haven't had their poo together to get their stuff out on the intrawebs...lulz

To each their own. If every musician sounded the same life would be boring.

Me I like Metal but have to say I like music in general I can find music that I like in every music genre there is. I dont play in a band but I have way back when 70's 80's but we were just having fun never thought I would make money at it. (was never that good) Now I play at home and at other peoples places and a few times a year I will play open mic night thats about it no money. I make money on the job and have fun playing music for the love of it in my free time. Also I do mods and some repairs on the side but that for cash and fun. :D

Shreddin, man, it just ain't that kind of forum.

There's all kinds of people here, from hard gigging players and a few honest-to-goodness pros, to complete beginners and even a few guys who haven't actually bought a guitar yet! Nobody takes an exam to get in here and nobody needs to prove themselves, except by what they choose to post.

182,000 members: there's always going to be a few who post dumb nonsense, though surprisingly few, actually. You need to just work out who says stuff you're interested in and in the main talk to them, while politely letting the rest pass by. It's a public square, not a conservatoire.

In fact, I think you put it very well yourself in what you said to Mr HighwayOnePlayer, during his famous last thread. Remember?

We're here to help each other out, hopefully amuse and entertain one another - and that's about it, really. It ain't so serious.

If there's stuff here that interests you, that's great. For other kinds of activity there's other websites. But stick around, man. You've got plenty to offer: I for one read what you have to say with great interest.

All the best to you - C

They take the song and record it slowly, then speed it up. Google it!

I saw Yngwie in 85' front row, in a small 300 person club. I even got one of his pick's. I can not put into words what seeing him that close was like. I can not compare it to Jimi, but for me, it was like that. Even better than EVH, who I also love, but Yngwie is not of this earth. Rising Force is still one of my all time favorite albums.

Well...You dudes already said everything that really matters and I couldn't have said it better myself. To be honest I was trying to get those 3 or 4 people to respond so I could hammer them, but then all of the people that I respect wrote responses to what I wasn't really after. Like Crying Strat said...I'm not too good with words...thank god that I stayed in performing arts (classical guitar) rather than majoring in English and teaching our kids  . The whole thing was a big mistake and "mistook" all around the edges.

Tony: Nice work dude and why in the heck don't you have a page dude? Pull your hand back closer to the bridge and rotate your palm down more to learn how to get faster and more distinct sweeps and rakes bro. It isn't easy, but nothing is. None the less, great work my friend and get that page up and I'll send you a request!!!

Ryco: I learned something from you tonight by listening to your old stuff and now it has influenced me to a point. THAT IS REAL PUNK MAN  !!! I would have never thought of that stuff in that progression, but now I've learned something I could try in a different way in my own stuff. Thank you. I'll be sending you a friend request when I'm done with this...

Jeff: Yeah the whole story behind "Unleash The Fury" is pretty embarassing for any Yngwie fan (BTW it's spelled Yngwie), but you don't have to like him for his personality. I myself just appreciate his musicianship and showmanship. Not many in this world can not only play like that, but also perform like that, but it also doesn't give him the right to light up a smoke on a flight and then freak out about how he was treated...nor us to judge about the lies that we may have been told by the media... 8)

Anyway to make a long story short...I'll have to change the subject of this thread to...

SOMETHING THAT I'VE NOTICED IN THESE FORUMS...EVERYONE HERE TOTALLY F-IN' ROCKS MAN!!!!!!!!!

So I'd like to hear more about your life stories with your music no matter if it was yesterday that you started, or 30, 40, or 50 years ago. Also everyone here that's serious about their music should start a myspace page because it DOES help to get your stuff out there to a point. Even if it's not a musician page (just a regular page would do), it's a great place to chat with other musicians like ourselves. Anyway who's gonna start? What's the reason/influence/force of drive/motivation/ECT. that made you dudes start playing and get into this great thing that we all call MUSIC?

I haven't noticed that.
