On a similar point, where would we be without power chords? Don't get me wrong. Power chords by themselves are just bland. However, they are one part of the recipe for a good song. Any good song has them.
As far as nu-metal I actually like some of it. I was checking out a contemporary British band called "The Black Hand" and the single called Super Hand. That's nu-metal to me. However, it still harkens back to 1970's Rock. You better bet there's power chords in it too- thick, dense and crunchy. Simians of Shred-

'Belive the oulde adage of, "Guitar is the easiest instrument to play poorly and the most difficult to play well," is properly resurrected, here.

As said above, a lot of current folks want instant gratification, not seek musicianship.

I think musicianship is always there. It just might not be in style all the time.

It might exist in a genre you don't care for, but it's always there. If you seek musicianship you can always find it in jazz, classical, fusion. I know there's musicianship in forms of metal, but I'm not a fan. There's amazing musicianship in bluegrass, but I'm not a fan.

It's out there. It just not be quite your style.
