evh....in the mid 80's as a middle schooler i read an article in hit parader or some other mag i don't remember the name of. he was a hero of mine, and i hadn't even picked up the guitar yet. but in it he said, 'if it sounds good, it is good.' i assume that for most of us the opposite is true as well. often i hear stuff, like al dimeola, playing runs so fast that my reaction is wow, do you know how hard it is to do that. then i will hear the solo from comfortably numb or layla, and think wow, that sounds so cool i wish i could play like that! its what sounds good to you, like ed said, right?

Especially when you consider the fact that Al DiMeola acutally picks every note he plays; no hammer ons, no pull offs. Pretty freaking amazing

yeah it kinda makes me mad.

but usually the guys in my skool who do that are just showing off, to try and get some chicks. but it doesn't really work cuz most of em are fags
