its a close tie between Muddy waters, johnny winter and pete green for me. I couldnt choose between the three.

Another worthwhile listen is a current artist 'Seasick Steve'.

Of the people on the list I would say Robert Johnson but I would have to have Peter Green, Johnny Winter and Albert King on there over the others.

I think all of them should be on the list, and there is no one who is best....

I wanted to put them all up. Too much and the list would be to long.

Don't forget Chris Duarte of the Chris Duarte Group

I'd like to add Luther Allison to this distinguished list.

From the list; Clapton. Or Buddy Guy. ...Or...

From today's current crop, Joe Bonamassa. Easy choice.

I voted for SRV, i've always been a huge fan of his.

Being an instrumental guitarist myself, the song Scuttle Buttin' is just jaw dropping blues instrumental. I cannot believe Stevie was able to play like he does & sing too...something I could never ever pull off! I stick to just instrumentals ha.

Good poll, interesting reads as well thanks guys.

The "Crossroads" in rumored to be in Clarksdale, Mississippi at what is now the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 49. Morgan Freeman owns a blues club there that is called "Ground Zero." This is one of the clubs that is featured in teh documentary featured in the film "Last of the Mississippi Jukes." The other is the Subway in Jackson.

I know he's pretty naff nowadays (especially the intolerable new Bond theme) but early White Stripes Albums (De stijl, etc) had some fantastic blues slide playing (and opened my closed ears to blues playing).

Messy and wild, and very cool!
